was thinking of going away with 7 girls to sherwood forest and getting a 4 bed lodge. This doesnt work out too bad in cost compared to renting big cottages.

And it has a spa.

Sounds like a great idea if you can avoid other peoples kids for most of the time.

Mrsrobertduvall · 06/03/2012 20:51

Wouldn't you rather go to an adults only place where there are no small children?

ceebeegeebies · 06/03/2012 20:53

I absolutely would but be prepared for kids everywhere and there is not that much to do at night once you have eaten. Plus, there probably isn't that much to do during the day either (walking, game of badminton maybe) - it is very set up for children.

We went for DH's 40th a few weeks ago but not quite the same as went with MIL, her bf, and BIL and SIL plus our 2 DC - still had a great time though Smile

ceebeegeebies · 06/03/2012 20:53

Oh yes, I forgot about the spa but that is very expensive.

Moomoomie · 06/03/2012 20:54

If you are happy to spend a lot of time in your lodge and in the spa, and not in the overcrowded pool or bars, it should be fine, personally I would rather pay a bit more for a cottage or hotel break

Dinosaurhunter · 06/03/2012 20:54

I love centre Parcs with my family but certainly not with the girls , we recently went to Dublin for my friends 38th birthday and that was fab !

fraggle73 · 06/03/2012 21:00

Thanks for the tips. I think I was bring too lazy to look for something else. If I book hotel or cottage am going to have to arrange stuff to do where as on CP site there is Spa and adult activities. Will look at prices for cottages etc

Might be worth registering with Groupon in the area you would like to go, they do a lot of hotel breaks at a very reasonable cost.

my sister and her girly friends do centre parks every year

they LOVE it and have a great time....

Price pp is cheap, so they spend a bit on the spa etc.

They also all LIKE cooking so take a turn at cooking a nice meal each, so no huge food bill. They buy most of their food in Tesco etc (not on site)

That's exactly what I'm doing to celebrate my 40th tomorrow. I am going to sherwood in a 4 bed lodge with 7 girlfriends and it has cost us £100 each. I've done a big shop today for all basics plus full english breakfast for saturday, curry saturday night, croissants, crumpets and toast for sun/monday breakfast and lots of nibbles and treats. That cost £88.00, so only £11.00 each. We are going to have lunch at the Pancake house on friday and a meal out on sunday evening. I too love Centre Parcs and enjoy going with my family, kids love doing the activities, but I also thought it would be a great place for a girls weekend as its not too far from home and we are just planning on relaxing, eating, drinking and not doing much at all.

Went with 7 others to Longleat in a 4 bed with sauna, hot tub etc...was great and other peoples kids didnt bother me! Fab...enjoy x

mummymeister · 16/03/2012 14:26

6 of us went to bath last weekend. we stayed in a cheap travelodge in town, booked a spa day at bath spa and went to the costume museum where there were no kids yippee. also had afternoon tea in the pump rooms. it was less than £100 a head.

fraggle73 · 21/04/2012 12:12

hi Bobbyboboo...how was your 40th at CP, would you recommend it. I am looking at Sherwood for next Feb, prices are coming up over £1000. Which lodge did you stay in?

I can recommend staying in Winchester lodges. They are lodges sleeping 6 on a golf course on the edge of the city. Winchester is lovely to wander round with great places to eat.

We chose this for our girly weekend as most cottages we looked at had 1 or 2 double beds, whereas these are all single. However you would need 2 lodges if there are 7 of you

lilbreeze · 24/04/2012 11:01

If you do go, make sure you book spa, restaurants and any activities well in advance as everything gets really booked up.

bobbyboboo · 27/04/2012 21:26

Hi fraggle73, we had a fantastic time :-) so much so that we going to go again next year! We stayed in a 4 bed New Style Woodland Lodge which was lovely, did have two double beds though but worked out really well. We had a couple of meals out, went in the pool, hired bikes for the afternoon, lingered in starbucks over a latte!, was fab just to chill and relax. Didn't bother us that there were kids about because we didn't have to deal with them!!! I'd say go for it without a doubt.

fraggle73 · 30/04/2012 00:22

Thanks bobbyboboo, will look into the prices for next Feb/March.

It's a shit hole. Seriously. We were really shocked - appliances faulty,. stunk of damp, gaffer taped flooring, They even don't give a toss about the food they sell - toat only toasted on one side, FFS! Pathetic, but just shows the contempt you're held in by them.
