She loves clothes shopping but we're tight for money at the moment, so we can't be hitting the designer stores! But what other things we can do? We've done the waxworks, London eye, duck tour on a previous trip. Any suggestions welcome!

Ripleys museum is definately different as are the London dungeons. there is a nice riverside pub called the Horniman near to the dungeons where you can have a grown up lunch by the river. if she is into science then the museums are good too. what about catching a film in one of the west end cinemas not bank breaking and a good treat. Also have a wander around covent garden and look at the little shops there or go to greenwich or camden markets (depending on what day you are going)

Riverboat trip from Tate Britain to Tate Modern www.tate.org.uk/tatetotate/ or other way round. I'm assuming Tate Modern is more interesting for a teenager because it's more impressive. Boat trip takes about 15 minutes and you go past some great sights, houses of parliament, london eye etc, can sit outside or inside. You can walk along the Southbank afterwards, some nice little restaurants where you can sit outside if its nice (Yo sushi is fun if she's adventurous with food) www.yosushi.com/restaurants/southbank-centre-festival-hall

Like the Tate ideas - are they free entry? The markets are a good idea too, it will be bank holiday Monday ..will any of them be on? Thanks for the ideas so far!

Hi, yes the Tate is free entry, although sometimes special exhibitions charge for entry. Usually there is something impressive in the turbine hall which is free. Tate Modern By Tate Modern you are also near the millenium bridge which is a great place to watch the river and the crowds from.

I'd say afternoon tea at Libertys, very cheap yet still posh and you dont have to book.

Evening ideas, jack the ripper walk or a ghost tour - they are always cheap, maybe a walk along the southbank or through camden thats free and sure to keep a teen entertained! The prince charles cinema do cult films from £1, thats in leicester square.

Have fun!

Go to Liberty, stroke the bannisters and check out the Vivienne Westwood then buy something little in the stationery or chocolate sections in order to get one of their gorgeous purple bags!

Borough market? Then walk all the way down by the river, taking in Tate Modern on the way?

Carnaby Street and the streets by it (next to Liberty) are nice for a stroll.

Curzon Street Cinema is lovely.

Lunch in Wahaca or Massala Zone, perhaps (both in either Covent Garden or Soho iirc). Deffo have a mooch around Covent Garden.

Portrait Gallery and coffee in the Cafe In The Crypt at Trafalgar Square.

I second wahaca. Going there for my birthday next month!

You're making me all nostalgic, my wedding dress fabric came from Liberty's.
(cheap acrylic, I was a student, not the amazing hand beaded stuff at £££££ a metre).
