Self catering accommodation in London that's not too expensive

Have had idea of going down to London during the summer holidays with DS and DD for a night or possibly two.

I know universities do self catering but my ineffective googling doesn't find any family rooms.

Have no idea how much I should be looking at but was (possibly optimistically) looking for something under £60 or so per night.

Anyone got any ideas?

We looked at Beit (university rooms) and that was £75 a night twin room inc breakfast (not self catering) and we would have needed two rooms. We have ended up at the Novotel Tower Bridge because that was cheaper (and we got a breakfast deal too) and the room accepted all four of us.

We have looked for the past two weeks and found nothing relatively central to London for anywhere enar that price. Indeed, when I found £110 a night inc. brekkie in a room that took four of us, I jumped at it!

If you are happy to be out at Docklands area, that was cheaper, but cannot recall if it was as low as £60.

We weren't really looking at self catering though as apartments seemed to cost more (maybe due to the extra room?)

I once got Travelodge, Covent Garden at £39 a night but that was months in advance and when they did those £9 sales (but it wasn't that cheap once I got connected!)

why self catering? This is quite tricky to find in London and £60 per night for 3 of you is way too optomistic for school summer hols in the city. if you find something post it cos there will be a few of us interested if you do. Better bet is to get a Travelodge or bucket hotel but even then £20 per person per night is really pushing it. good luck

Youth hostel?

Thinking about it, I did see a 4 x bunk room at a place called 'Generation' which was quite cheap. I didn't want a hostel though and can't recall the full price.

Thank you everyone - think I may have been being a bit optimistic on price . Will also consider hotels and will get searching for bargains.

Curzon Street, Google it, not very fancy, but have teeny kitchenette for cooking, popular with American's, very noisy as is near the road, but then again most places in Central London are!

We just stayed at Jurys Inn Chelsea Harbour, £120 a night for family room inc breakfast, Imperial Wharf Tube into Clapham Junction, change for Victoria or Waterloo, 2 adults 2 kids.
