Would like to go to London this weekend, last minute idea, and do all the museums etc.
Need to find a hotel, Travelodge etc for 2 adults and 3 DCs to stay in one room.
Any ideas?????

How about a youth hostel? We stayed in one near Euston Station a couple of years ago. Dh and me, mil and 2 ds's. We had a room with 5 or 6 beds. It was about £70-£80 I think. It was fine, a bit basic but no complaints.

We are 2 adults with 3 children - 13,11 and 8 and we stay in a suite at the John Howard Hotel which usually works out about the same as 2 travelodge rooms (they only ever sleep 4 and in London they won't let you sneak an extra child in) and the breakfast on top. OK if one of your children is aged 2 in a cot but if not they will insist on 2 rooms in any of the budget places. So whilst a suite sounds classy trust me it isnt! The hotel is right behind the albert hall, walking distance to all the museums and because you have your own kitchen you can make sandwiches for the day and do meals in the evening rather than always having to eat out as you do in a Travelodge. Lots of friends have been recommended and they have all found it brilliant.

We have used Fraser Place apartments. We usually stay in Canary Wharf but they also have central ones. They have one, two and three bed apartments with kitchens and two or three bathrooms. Sometimes they include a basic breakfast.

Try Baden-Powell House next door to the Natural History Museum :) They have basic but good quality accommodation. I used to stay with them one weekend a month for a couple of years as I was attending a course in the same building. You don't have to be a member of the scouts to use it :)

the premier inn in the old county hall building, just next to London Eye, is pretty central and cheap (for London) - and if your children (or you!) are the hungry type, there is an as-much-as-you-can-eat breakfast (which has been well tested :))
