I'm looking for family rooms in Cardiff

Two adults two children, 10yr old DD and 12 yr old DS.

Have any of you found a fab guest house or B&B who could accommodate us all? Looking for a small guest house that I won't feel awkward leaving kids alone in rooms of their own IYSWIM.

I really don't want to share a bedroom for a week with both DK so Travel lodge/ holiday inns not really the best options.

Any suggestoins?

Unfortunately most of the b&bs in cardiff are geared towards lone working men, cos its the city i suppose.
What about the village hotel, they d o interconnecting rooms, kids can go in the bar and restaurant, plus large leisure club and spa.

Or if you want o be out of cardiff there are probably lots of nice b&bs although depends where you need to be

Thanks for replying. Don't need to be in Cardiff, could be further out, would be cheaper wouldn't it?

Will check village hotel anyways. I'm going through the visit Cardiff website at the mo , but its taking some time!!

Surely somewhere on Cathedral Road would be a bit more family friendly?

I'd give a few a quick call and see how helpful they are on hte phone.

Found a fab place - not exactly in Cardiff, nearer Neath, and it works out cheaper for us to have a 5 star cottage s/c for five nights than sharing a room for four in these hotels.
It called Gellifelgaws farm by Neath fyi.

So happy and excited! Smile

It even has a helipad, but we're thinking of taking our car this time Wink

You do know that neath is a massive shithole mainly populated by drug users?
Sorry didnt want to rain on your parade, but would be worse if i didnt say it.
Its not the most glamorous of locations

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 28/04/2011 20:44

That's a bit of a sweeping statement.

Parts of it aren't the nicest, but stunning countryside and waterfalls too. Are you in the area for a particular reason?

SenSationsMad · 29/04/2011 19:00

I'm going with my daughter's school to the Eisteddfod yr Urdd ( Europe's largest youth festival) which is held in Swansea.

The cottage is apparently 7 miles outside Swansea. I need to look out for things to do in the area, but I believe they've got a fab leisure centre there.

Can't wait!!!! I'll come back and give MN a review of the holiday cottages.

Oh the leisure centre is indeed fab. They have this fantastic slide around the perimeter of it.Don't try and turn round on the rafty thing, because you might fall off, and then they stop the water, and then start the alarm, and you have to walk off the slide on foot, whilst everyone watches you.... Gower, for beaches, obviously. Or Langland or Caswell beaches. Or Pembrey beach and country park at Llanelli - hire bikes, use the dry ski slope, toboggan run.

A couple of museums in Swansea, if it rains.

Good luck in the Urdd!
