we will be going to York end of April and really fancy Betty's - it does have a child's menu whcih looks lovely.

What have your experiences been like with your kids?

there are always massive queues, which might not work very well with kids.
I've never taken mine in but I would imagine the staff would be nice and some of the other customers snotty. Probably would work best with children who are good at sitting still and like feeling grown-up.

yes i took 4 yr old dd. she wasn't fussed for the faffy sandwiches but did like the fairy cake. next time i'd go just for cake, not lunch iyswim. very expensive for a wasted sandwich.

Yes, we went for breakfast on a week day when it was very quiet. The kids loved it, and the staff were very friendly with them, fetching a highchair and bibs and not minding that one of them just wanted a banana that we'd taken with us.

never though about breakfast although our hotel includes this

Yes a few times from about age 4. The cakes are fab. The kids fish n chips is yummy. They provide colouring no prob. Consider going for a tea?

Tip - if the queue is horrendous (11.45-1.15 usually) they have a second smaller restaurant up the cobbled street which leads to the Minster. All seating upstairs there though so no watching people go by as distraction for kids.

Depends on age of kids in some ways & buggy is a pain.

you can book/reserve a table for afternoon tea between 2-4.30pm so goign to do that and just have the sandwiches, cake and scones ... ummm yummy Smile

yes i think the belmont room is the one with the large windows. We've been to Betty's many a time and alwasy with the children. Usually for lunch and the fish and chips are lovely(as someone else already said). the children get a colouring sheet and crayons, special emma bridgewater plates and generally pretty well looked after.

I think the Belmont room is the upstairs room in the large Betty's in York. DH and I had our wedding reception there Grin!
