Ribby Hall in Lancashire - has anyone ever been?

We're trying to think of somewhere we could go on holiday this summer closer to home - we're in the North West and I've come across Ribby Hall. It looks expensive but easy to get to with lots of stuff to do - just wondering if it'll be worth it?!

My aunt goes every year with a big group of her in laws. They like it & stay on site all w/e

I work in Preston and have used Ribby Hall for it's conference stuff. Also stayed there once in winter for works Christmas do.

It depends what kind of thing you are after really but i thought that the accommodation was a bit basic, it reminded me of student halls really. I would stay there again but i definitely wouldn't stretch my budget for it

That's interesting - thanks - I think at £800+ a week in August it's quite expensive...! We're looking for somewhere a bit different in Lancashire - I've spent the past hour or so googling but haven't come up with anything yet...

We have stayed many times. The pool is small and clean - ideal for younger children. There are some activities available for children and the main bonus for us an equestrian centre on site, ideal for the novice rider. It is much less expensive than center parcs but there are far less activities. We have never stayed in the basic lodges so could not comment but we have always found the lodges clean and good value for money. The pine lodges are nice (hot tub in garden) but they get very booked up. We went because it was close and by the time the kids were saying 'are we there yet' we were!! There is not much for older children to do though and my 9 year old son started to say he did not want to go anymore because he was bored. But we had some lovely family holidays there especially for those of us in the family who enjoyed riding and the lodges that overlooked the paddocks were great

I have been to Ribby Hall and quite liked it, in fact my OH preferred it to center parcs as its easier to escape, but that means the roads are not really for cyclists, more like a normal caravan park. The accomodation we stayed in was nice and spacious, very clean, it was more like a small house terraced cottage. The outside space is quite open, there was no privacy from our neighbours though.

My main bug bear with the place was the swimming, at the time we had two very young babies a 2 year old and a 4 year old. My OH was going to watch the twins while I took the older two swimming but they we not going to let us in as they had a ratio of one adult to one child. We did end up getting it but it was such a fuss we didn't go back to the pool for fear of not getting in and leaving the kids disappointed.

Pinelake resort at Carnforth? No idea on price but supposed to be good. A bit further to travel but M6 all the way.
