We are looking for somewhere to stay in mid July somewhere near Bamburgh or Scarborough, York etc (my geography is dreadful, sorry - basically the top right coast)

If anyone has or knows of anywhere good with 3 bedrooms and a garden near a beach for approx £600 per week would love to know ...

Thanks

Scarborough is much lower down in Yorkshire.

Try searching for Beadnell, my parents go there often with their dogs Grin

ok try northumbria coast and country cottages; link house farm; low steads farm cottages; northumbria byways; or just googling 'self catering northumberland coast' - there are lots of places that aren't advertised through agencies. Nicest places on the northumberland coast (which is, ahem, some distance from Scarborough!) imo are Embleton Bay, Beadnell Bay and Bamburgh.

Did you find what you were looking for? (I'm very nosy about people holidaying on 'my patch' Grin - plus always on the lookout for new tips!)

Yes thanks - going to a fab looking place by the beach near bamburgh castle :)

Oh good. We are going somewhere with a view of Dunstanburgh Castle (a bit south of there!)

Smile Hope you have a lovely time.
The village has a proper old-fashioned butcher who also sells pork pies, ham etc for picnics.

Would recommend a windbreak (and mallet!) for the beach as it can get windy. There's a path through the dunes just across the road from the cottage. My DC spent hours sliding down the dunes.

Good fish & chips, and crazy golf in Seahouses a couple of miles down the coast. You can do boat trips from there.

Oh, and most importantly - Asda will deliver, handy as it is miles to the nearest supermarket.

Oooh, we are thinking of Northumbria as a possibility this year. Great to have recommendations of chip shops etc!

We stayed in Beadnell a couple of years ago. We booked with coastalretreats.co.uk but ours (Sailors Snug) was only a 2 bed so may not be suitable.

We love it up there. you'll have a fab time.

A few other tips:

Walk from Craster to Dunstanburgh is great, as is walk along Embleton Sands from Low Newton by the sea to Dunstanburgh.

Fab pub in the square at Low Newton - lovely food.

Walk from Seahouses to Bamburgh along the beach is fab.

Good fish and chips in Seahouses - don't know name but it was the one by the roundabout opposite the main car park/tourist information.

If it's a rainy day, the pool at Alnwick (next to Sainsburys just off A1) is great.

We are off to Seahouses in July with friends and can't wait.
