We are looking for a caravan holiday in Cornwall this summer. We have been to a few Haven type places around the country but have never been to Cornwall. It would be me, DH and our two DS's who are 5 and 3 so be handy if thereare lots of good things to do in the area if the English weather lets us down! Be fab if the park had a good pool too and good evening entertainment as DS's LOVE the Haven type character kids shows! Only thing is, I really prefer smaller, cove type beaches to massive expanses of sand. ANy recommendations from you fabulous people?

Havent done Cornwall for a few years now (since having ds) as drive from Scotland a bit much. Been to North Devon though a couple of times and can recommend Ruda.

Mainly for the swimming pool which has a large shallow end with some slides which ds loved. It also has a lazy river which he loved too. Small cove type beach with rock pools which we spent a lot of time on and also up the sand dunes.

Never did evening entertainment as we/ds prefers to sit outside in nice weather and drink guiness and cheap wine kick a ball about (hate the character shows!)

We went out of season as ds wasnt at school so got reasonable deals on the beachside apartments one year and Clovelly lodge another (the lodge was fab with 3 bedrooms, ensuite shower, bathroom, washing machine, balcony, excellent kitchen etc).

Weather was fab both times so never had the problem of looking for indoor activities.

Visted a couple of parks close by, one that sticks in my mind is Watermouth Castle which was small and relaxing and perfect for young kids - 1/2 dozen traditional small rides like teacups & aeroplanes, gnome land, crazy golf, maze, fab ice-cream. (and you could get a return visit another day for ~£1.50 a head) - everything is outdoors so you really need the weather.

St Ives Bay in Cornwall is my fave holiday park, nice indoor pool, lovely beach (not a cove though), the only disadvantage is it's a very steep walk over the sanddunes to the beach!

If you wanted to try something a bit smaller and quieter then we stay with our 3 at Wringworthy cottages outside Looe. Don't have the evening entertainment though. If not Looe Bay is supposed to be nice and they do have a pool, entertainment etc

Hendra holiday park in Newquay is nice- its just outside rather than central. Got fantastic indoor and outdoor pools and loads of entertainment. Lots of different beaches around from small coves to fistral beach which is massive!
Crantock beach is lovely for very young children, it has the gannel river running through it and when the tide is low it leaves lots of shallow sandy pools for them to splash in.

Hendra Holiday park

Newquay holiday park

any of the parkdean ones

You are never far from a beach in cornwall- even the cove ones are busy in the summer.

Hendra holiday park is nice - lots of lovely beaches nearby... crantock is a large family beach, holywell is another. Try Lusty Glaze for a smaller cove beach.
