Find me a holiday - save my sanity

We have 3 DCs (7, 6 & almost-5). For the last 5 Easters we have gone here. It is lovely, good-quality accommodation, nice area and the people who run it are incredibly welcoming. DH loves it, and is reluctant to go anywhere else in case it's not as nice, and then we'll wish we hadn't Hmm.

But it's been Five Years...

Also, because we go every Easter, I then spent 6 -7 weeks of summer holidays on my own (DH works away) trying to entertain 3 fractious children.

I cannot take any more of it. I cannot feed another goat. I cannot go to the same beaches in windproofs and wellies and then come back and try to cook, night after night, without even the option of a handy local pub to feed us.

DH has agreed that for summer 2011, we can book a proper summer holiday. Sadly for me, in the intervening 5 years, all our passports have expired and replacing them would add another £300 or so to the cost of the holiday, so 'abroad' is out of the question.

In the interests of saving my sanity (and indeed, saving every goat in the North Devon area), I need concrete suggestions of places elsewhere in the country.

I'll go anywhere really but would prefer not Devon or Cornwall, self-catering but with close proximity to catered options, not a tent or caravan, and ideally plenty for children to do, especially cycling. Assume budget is healthy.

Thank you!

I live near Newport in Pembrokeshire..It's beautiful! There's a big beach with a river running into it, mount Carningli to walk up,lovely cafes, pubs and restaurants,a butterfly farm and a wildlife centre not far away.Newport has the best butchers' around,a healthfood shop etc. Also Cardigan bay for dolphin spotting, and Anna Ryder Richardsons' zoo isn't far either. The Wildlife centre is great for cyclists and there's a wide path along the river. If its raining there's a cinema in Cardigan too.

There's lots of privately owned holiday cottages here, but also rentable accommodation.

I should work for the Welsh tourist board!

Hello,

What about Bluestone in Pembrokeshire? Like Jellykat said, Pembrokeshire is lovelly and Bluestone has plenty to do, it has an Adventure Centre, Water Park plus a Spa for the mums and dads.

Its lovelly

I can recommend this - we went to Darwin Forest and really enjoyed exploring the Peak District.

The Forest of Dean is good for cycling particularly.
