Summer Holiday ideas - looking for something different!

I'm looking for something different for our next family summer holiday - me, DH, DD(8), DS(7).

Have done CP, Hoseasons and the like.

Looking for 1 or 2 weeks in the UK, preferably near the coast.

Just feel there must be something that little bit different out there waiting for us!

Any ideas? Prefer s/c and budget (within reason) is not a problem.

Many tia

We go to small cottage complexes, which are great. Usually 5 to 10 cottages that have an indoor pool, indoor games room, playground and a tennis court.

Last year we went to www.hamfarm.co.uk in Devon which was lovely (although may not be near enough to sea for you).

Because the complex is small the pool is never busy. The children always make friends with the others on the complex so we get time to relax.

Check out www.premiercottages.co.uk which are all 4 or 5 star, some a bit pricey.

We did this type of holiday in Western France this August and had such a fab time.

How about hiring a campervan and going on a bit of a tour? It doesn't have to be the old nostalgic one as VW have brought out a new one called a California. We hired one for a weekend and DC loved it!

Have you ever considered a canal boat hire? Great experience for all the family and you can change the scenery!

Wigwams? these look fantastic, and Northumberland is beautiful!

We had a fabulous holiday in Northumberland last year.
As a child we hired a boat on the Norfolk Broads and pottered up and down, in and out of pubs, off on day trips etc.
We usually use this company and have never had bad accomodation from them.
They have a section including all the cottages with access to a swimming pool too.

What about Bluestone? Its nothing like Centre Parcs, its small, intimate but with loads to do?
