Walking holiday in UK with Kids...

To give myself something to look forward to (and to use a holiday as a way of limiting the spends for Xmas/New YearWink)

Can anyone recommend a company to "package" us on a walking holiday?

I want minibus to/from B&B, detailed walking guide, etc.

Wales, South West England and the Lake District all sound lovely.

And if you can guarantee the weather too that would be fab!

I can appreciate that many of you are out trick or treating...[hsmile]

TIA

How old are your kids and how far will they walk? The companies I can think of doing this sort of thing are supporting "very serious" walkers, who want to do 20+ miles a day.

here's one example

How about choosing a fab location where you can do a variety of walks from the door?

Borrowdale YHA would be fab in the Lake District. Or Ilam Hall YHA in Derbyshire.

My kids are in the 10 - 14years age bracket, not serious walkers but could comfortably do (I think) about 10 miles on an average day.

I like the idea of a company to organise everthing, transport bags to the next B&B, maps etc.

Just had a look at your link rosin, a little bit more miles than I think my lot could cope with Smile

HF Holidays do family walking holidays in summer - but they don't come that cheap nowadays and I'm not sure whether they use minibuses nowadays or rely on visitors to have own cars. Similarly, Ramblers Holidays runs family holidays, but again I'm not sure about the minibus.

Have a look at 'Inntravel'. We haven't done a walking holiday with them but stayed in France in one of their self catering places. They were very co-operative to deal with and we received a good information pack about the area, so I would image they would send you all the info you needed to navigate. I would travel with them again in a flash.

If you look at their website you'll see they will transport your bags for you while you walk from accommodation to accommodation. They say they can do extra nights for you too.
