Sleeper train - WWYD?

Taking dd (6) to London from Newquay in about 3 weeks and wanted to use the sleeper train to save on a hotel and cut out the journey, lol, but all the berths are booked. We could book normal seats and go but I have paranoid ideas that someone might run off with our luggage or dd in the night but it would be a lot cheaper and quicker than going in the day and staying an extra night, but obviously would rather do that than take a stupid risk.

WWYD - am I being madly paranoid or reasonable?

I think you're being a bit paranoid, tbh. But your biggest problem is that you're going to arrive in Newquay absolutely shattered - there's no way you'll get a decent night in normal seats, especially not if you're a bit twitchy. I think you need to rethink it.

Thanks - we can both normally sleep anywhere but think you might be right, I'd be twitchy about being in public and just thought that if dd didn't go to sleep quickly I'd be doubly on edge that she was disturbing everyone else.

I love the sleeper and often use it for work but would never do so without a berth. With a berth it's a real experience! I always sing Skimbleshanks to myself! Go another time when there is a berth available. That' what I would do.

You do get to London very early as well although I am allowed to use the lounge there for a coffee and continental bite to eat - not sure if that is for everyone or not. Then it is closer to 8.00 and London is starting to wake up!
