Hi all - off to London next week and have a couple of questions, if anybody can help:

  1. Is Leon on Carnaby Street a decent place for lunch? If not, are there any other reasonably priced places with good veggie options nearby? I plan to hit Liberty but need an excuse to get dp in the area without him realising said plan!

  2. How do you get to Marylebone High Street from Selfridges? Is it easy walking distance - realise I'm being v dim here...

  3. Which is the best for coffeee - British Museum, V&A or National Gallery?

Thanks.

Sadly, The Wolseley is beyond our budget. Maybe dp and I will be able to go minus the girls at some point?!

Actually although it's expensive for dinner, the Wolesley is not pricey at all for tea - no worse than many of the gallery cafes. You can get tea and a nice pastry for £5-6, which is on a par with the National Gallery.

It is however fiendishly busy and hard to get into - you have to be prepared to queue most weekends.

The Wallace Collection has a lovely tea courtyard which is tucked away and consequently not usually too busy.

Thanks. Mildred's looks nice.

Tbh though, we won't want a long 'proper restaurant' lunch as we plan to ram so much else in too!

well Mildred's is kind of half-way between a restaurant and a cafe, I'd say. I just meant it's more restaurant-y than, say Hummous Bros or similar.

You could happily go there and just have a salad. It's less formal than Carluccios, say.

It looks good - adds to list of potentials.

Having said all of this, dd2 is begging for Wagamamas!

well, there is a wagamamma's just round the corner.

I also like Ping-pong which is dim sum, and just up the road from liberty's, though the veggie selection isn't huge (unless you eat fish in which case it's extensive)

BelligerentGhoul · 01/08/2010 22:57

Thanks again, for all of your help. Dd1 eats fish but not dd2 or I, so that may not be so good.

There's a wagamamas on lexington street in Soho, and also one just behind Selfridges so dd2 will be happy!

Thank you - although I still hope to persuade her elsewhere!
