Jersey... Beuveland campsite

Just returned from a week in a pre-setup tent at Beuveland Campsite on Jersey.

I will review the whole Jersey thing in more depth when I'm not so knackered (late, semi-broken down Condor ferry, got home at 4am today..) but:

Something I wasn't able to find out despite a trawl of the net as it's not the sort of thing people MIGHT say and I believe Campsite UK's review page would now edit out:

Be careful about Travelsmith's pre-setup tent site at the Beuveland campsite. I believe TS rent a field there and basically run a separate business on that field, using Beuveland's facilities. The Beuveland site is fine, clean, well kept with 3 or 4 good sized camping fields, a coolish outdoor pool, a footy/kite flying field,... and a bar/restaurant... Some may already be hearing warning bells! There were many 'Ikea-ish' Dutch and German families as well as UK ones on the 'independent' part of the site with their own tents, caravans etc.

The Travelsmith tents are spacious, reasonably well equipped and a reasonable distance apart, again on well kept grass, in the expected regimented rows. But the clientele largely constitute those who can't afford Benidorm this year and are looking for 'cheap sun', not a camping experience. Most didn't have a clue how to behave on a campsite. Their teenagers whooped and shouted in the children's play equipment til midnight; they dragged their whimpering, exhausted 6 year olds back from the bingo at 11, then cracked open the Fosters and carried on their bar conversation at 'bar-conversation' levels sitting outside their tent, 2 metres from their neighbours, shrieking with laughter and falling over guy ropes til at least midnight every night. They had no volume control whatsoever. They they crashed around their tents for a further half hour trying to find toothbrushes.

These are all objective remarks.

The subjective? Not sure I expected to see quite as much neon red flab and tatts!

I know I may well be flamed for my obvious snobbery but I wish I'd known all this before booking as I wouldn't have done. I am sure there are many folks who wouldn't bat an eyelid at what I've said but I don't expect to pay Centrepark prices for a Haven experience.
