Want to plan a couple of days in the Oct hols with me, hub and our 5yr old DS ... fancy:

  • Rainforest Cafe for tea one day
  • London Eye
  • The Frog or I think its called the Duck now!!!
  • Dinasoar museum perhaps

What do you think and what's best way to do all this?

oOOh - and the science museum! Def need to get an oyster card - and use the buses too. People always forget about buses in London - but if you look in advance, you can make a bit of a plan about where to go which day and then plan your bus routes - much safer/easier than tube - plus you can see so much more of London.

Your 5 year old ds will love and adore HMS Belfast (nearest tube/station London Bridge). Trust me on this .

You should also take him to see the horseguards on Whitehall (Downing Street is a turning off Whitehall, out of interest), Buckingham Palace and the Changing of the Guards.

Whitehall and all the royal stuff is reasonably close to the London Eye, so aim to do those two on one day.

Don't go to the aquarium, it is very expensive and not that impressive inside.

buck house and changing of the guards sounds cool - so HMS Belfast - tell me about this?

You could walk down south bank taking in London eye golden hind and hms belfast (will get pricey. Have you tesco vouches or 2 for 1 train vouchers. Then cross the mileneum bridge to st pauls and catch 15 (old style bus) back up fleet street and strand to trafalgar sq.
The princess diana playground is worth a visit to let of steam. Natural history museum and science museum are next to each other so you can do them in one hit. Can get really busy but they are free so you can just go to the bits you are interested in and not feel ripped of. If you DS likes public transpoert there is also the london transport museum in covent garden. Need to pay for that one.
Hope that helps. Second making sure you have oyster cards

Go and play in the fountains at Somerset House - great photo oppotunity too!

Have just seen that you're going in October so maybe the fountains not such a good idea

We have stayed in the premier inn at County Hall nr Waterloo Station. Very convenient location and nice rooms, but a little pricey.

My DS loved the London Transport Museum in Covent Gdn. Museum is not too big, so you can look at everything without feeling you are rushing around to fit it all in. Lots to see and you can climb in the vehicles

We also like going on the bus to the Diana Memorial Park in Kensington Gnds. Nice play area and free!

If you go to the Natural History Museum get there before it opens as the queue to get is long. We went straight to see the dinosaurs as no queue at the start of the day.

Have fun.

We took our on one of the Thames cruises down to greenwich.

The aquarium's overpriced and no better than others elsewhere IMO.
