Dh and I are off for a couple of days without the children- staying at Hotel du Vin.
What things could we do? Nice restaurants/wine bars?

We have days out to Poole, your hotel is near the quay which has lots of pubs and restaurants. Loads to see there, go on a harbour trip, you can stop off at Brownsea Island for walk, home of boy scouting (??)

The beach is sandy, carries on from Bournemouth which has nice gardens and shops.
Also Sandbanks is the peninsular which has the very expensive houses with fab views. Piers Morgan made a programme about it. You can catch the chain ferry across to Studland (nudist beach! and others) which is not far from Swanage, another nice seasidey place.
Swanage to Corfe Castle steam railway is nice.

You can probably hire bikes and do some of the above too.

Hope you have a great time, lucky you!!

Cafe shore is very nice at Sandbanks though food at hotel should be good too.

Another nice restaurant/bar at Branksome chine. Outdoor bar upstairs.

Sailorsgal- thanks for the recommendation. We had coffee/pastries and sat for hours at the Terrace Bar this morning- what a view!!!
We stayed at Hotel du Vin which was FAB! And ate at the Guildhall- the French fish restaurant in the old town which was superb.
Lovely place - love the fact you can hire beach huts for the day! We'll definitely go with the children.

Shell Bay if it's seaside weather.
Boat round Old Harry Rocks if the tides are right.
Corfe Castle for romantic ruins and chocolate-box village.
Brownsea Island for red squirrel watching.

(Brownsea Island was the inspiration for Enid Blyton's Kirrin Island, and Corfe Castle was the inspiration for Kirrin Castle).

There is a super butcher in Corfe Castle village. We used to bring home all sorts of lovely cuts that he would prepare and freeze for us to pick up on the way home from our holiday.

Have a lovely time!
