Norfolk or Dorset?

Hi

Just managed to persuade my DH to go on holiday (its been 5 years!!!!)

Found 2 nice cottages. One in a village called St Olaves in Norfolk, one just outside Baldford Forum in Dorset.

Any recommendations?! Both properties look nice, and both are close ish to sea.

Thanks!

I'd be tempted to go to the one that's closest; they are both lovely but quite a long way from each other!

We went to Dorset earlier in the summer and found there was lots to do for children - there is a thread on here somewhere with lots of ideas. Haven't been to Norfolk since having ds so not so sure about what there is to do there.

Worth checking if there are any big events etc nearby when you are going (local websites) as that may sway your opinion - either for or against!

Thanks!

We are in London, so probably roughly the same in travel time.

DC are 2 and 4 by the way.

Oops, I meant Blandford Forum too!!

MarmMummy · 24/07/2010 14:17

Well we love both but I think the South West gets more rain in the summer so we are off to Norfolk.

I'd choose the one just outside Blandford - there's a lot to do with children.

Try the little tea room/restaurant at Compton Abbas airfield; lovely for children and a fabulous view.

I live in Blandford and am a Childminder, so know loads of places for Children!

Ok. Here Goes.

Honeybrook farm, near Wimborne, about 15 minutes away

Kingston Maurward Animal Park at Dorchester, 20 minutes away

Poole Park/ Whitecliff Park about 15 minutes away

Swimming Poole in Blandford is brillinat for your age group has a fantastic childrens pool.

Crazy Monsters Soft Play a new facilty, a bit big for your age group, but Cool Play at Sturminster Newton, is just made for under 5's, again about 15 minutes away.

Monkey World, at Wareham is about 30 minutes.

Sandbanks is a lovely sandy beach, but if you want to go rock pooling, try Lulworth Cove.

Oceanarium at Bournemouth is better than Sea Life Centre at Weymouth IMO, plus as they are building the new bypass at Weymouth traffic can be abit bad at the moment.

We are going to North Norfolk this summer - there is loads to do for kids and lots of sandy beaches .. although the sea might be colder.

Am wanting to go to Dorset next year though

MarmMummy · 25/07/2010 13:03

Thanks everyone - we've opted to go to Norfolk this year!

Looking at that list shoshe it looks like we will be in Dorset next year!
