I am searching for a maths and science tutor for my 13 year old who wants to become a vet. She is in top sets already, so the tutor needs to be really good at getting the most out of her. We are in North London

Hi there! Hope you are well. I’m a qualified teacher with over 10 years experience. I’m trained in Primary Education but have worked with students up until the age of 15 (which I thoroughly enjoyed) do let me know if you would like to get in touch?

Are you looking for in person or online?

It's worth knowing the main platform types in the UK whether you are looking for online or in person:
commission-based (MyTutor, Tutorful, Spires - platform takes a cut each lesson between 18-49%)
one-off finder's fee (Tutorperch) - you pay once to get the tutor's details then deal directly with the tutor you have chosen, no commission)
monthly subscription (Superprof)
premium agency (The Profs, Tutor House) - higher rates but more involvement, sometimes chose the tutor/s for you).

In person ideally

Check out the platforms I listed above (based on what model/s) you agree with, most professional tutors are listed on directories, although a few look on here.
Professionally speaking, in general, the more experienced a tutor is the less likely they will be on the higher commission based platforms as the platforms cut inflated the fee so much and they often force you to use online platforms (no flexibility with pedagogy), and a tutors with lots of experience and results are generally moving away from these, but not always. For in person, a non commission tutoring directory (a list of all the tutors in that area/subject etc.. where you can choose the tutor for you) or high involvement agency (matching service where they find a tutor for you, though some parents dislike this) may be your best bet anyway.
