Hi everyone I need advised and some good A levels tutors/ courses contacts, too.
Everything was going smoothly and just before Christmas we received quite poor results from the tests. He is doing maths/chemistry and biology.
I need some tutors with a plan how to do improve those exams scores and give him last final push before A levels. He seems to be studying a lot but I,m not sure if he is on right path and how to help him.
Was wondering if anyone could share some advice if possible. It would be really appreciated.

Please make sure you find tutors who are currently or were very recently teachers. Tutoring is completely unregulated so anyone can advertise themselves as a tutor. Some might have excellent subject knowledge and some can be crap but really only teachers are going to have the up to date exam technique knowledge it sounds like your son needs. You could ask school if they have any suggestions as they might have contacts in other schools. Hope you manage to find someone to help give your son the boost he needs Smile

We used TayberryTuition.org.uk they employ some teachers and Oxbridge students etc. They are very positive and motivating. Helped DS massively. They were well priced too.

My dd graduated this year and is a tutor. Look for tutors who are either teachers or who have taught the exam board and syllabus your dc is sitting, or graduates who have recently sat exams in that exam board/syllabus.

You can have trial sessions with tutors to decide if you like them and will get on with them. I’d advise that.

Also look at a tutor’s reviews from previous students!

We used First Tutors to find a tutor for GCSe English and then again for A level economics- both were brilliant and DC’s grades went up from mocks to actual exams. English from 3 to 6 and economics from D to B.

Both Dc’s tutors were current teachers of the subjects - the economics one marked A levels for the Board as well - and I think that was important as they are up to speed with current content and grading. They basically taught him how to pass the exam well. There are a lot of tutors who are uni students or who don’t t currently teach the subject- I’d avoid those.

Seconding Tayberry - we used them for my stepson. He was getting mostly Cs and Ds in the October, and by the February after 3 months of working with Tayberry he was getting Bs! He found the sessions really enjoyable (even for Maths which he HATED!!) and had a very positive relationship with all of his tutors.
He got an A and two Bs in the Summer which we were all delighted with, and he took a gap year and started at Uni in September.
They were really supportive and gave a lot of advice on courses too.
My daughter still has lessons so let me know if you want their number and I can DM it across
