US kids entering KS1 - need tutor

Hi team,

My wife and I are Brits who have had three kids in America and will be moving back to the UK in 2024.

We are looking for an online tutor to work with our 7 and 10 year old kids to get them “up to speed” with KS1 in the next 12 months.

Can anyone recommend a generalist tutor (likely a primary school teacher) who could assess our kids and then tutor them? When I look at tutor websites they tend to be focused on a particular subject.

Any advice much appreciated!!

KS1 is for ages 5-7.
You need KS2 (7 - 11)

Tutor Hunt is a good place to start.

Depending on days/times I may be able to help over the summer. Please feel free to contact me. I teach mainly 11 plus but am a qualified primary teacher with 22 years experience and have helped other families in your situation before.

Where are you located? Are you doing state or private? I'd recommend the CGP workbooks and also Doodle English and Maths.

Hi. I’m an experienced primary school teacher, who now tutors, both in person and online.

I’ve taken the summer off, but if I can be of use to you in September, please feel free to PM me on here.

You need Key Stage 2 (not KS1). I imagine your 7 year old will be starting in Year 3 (the first year in KS2) and your 10 year old will be starting in Year 6 (last year of KS2).

I'm a Year 3 teacher and my honest recommendation would be to just start school...really no need for tutors at this stage. Let the teachers assess them once they start and focus on settling in and making friends.

Good luck with your move 👌🏻

I know a great tutor who has worked with lots of American students moving back over. Let me know if you’d like her details .

Hey, If you are still looking. Give 'I Tutor Club' a message. Their tutors are all experienced primary and secondary school teachers. I found a primary school tutor to help my child with their maths and English. The tutor was is great. 2 Years later and he is still working with my son.

Hi there, I imagine that you have probably found a tutor by now, but if not, I am a qualified primary teacher with 15 years experience and I have been lucky enough to teach all year groups from Reception to Year 6. I am also a qualified primary maths specialist. I work full time as a tutor and would be happy to chat about your tutoring needs if you are still looking.

Hi i am currently a GCSE student who is open to tutor online on weekends Im on a grade 9 (A*) on maths and science a 7 (A) in english core subjects and an 8(A++) on majority of my others. If it is possible can you contact me back so I can prepare my materials in good time and refresh myself I am also open to doing a half an hour taster session per child and depending on the part of London you live in I may be able to do in person lessons but I have prior experiences with tutoring ks2 as I tutored some of my nephews during their SATS period as well
