How do I advertise?

I want to set up my own mini tutoring group after work. I have no idea how to advertise. I got some mini business card and posted them locally and left them in some shops. No calls. Nothing. It’s pretty rural so I reckon it’s either very young kids or no kids at all.

Any idea how to set up? I tried tutoring sites and I get no jobs.

I started tutoring maths in September 2022 and finding students has been the most difficult part of the job! I think a lot of parents share tutor details with other parents once they've found a good one - the hard part is making your name known to begin with.

Aside from making profiles on tutoring websites (around 55% of my students have come from them), I've had the most luck posting in Facebook groups - look for ones that are specific to your local area and/or aimed at parents. About 20% of my students have come via advertising on Facebook, another 20% through recommendations from friends, family and parents, and 5% through my website.

It does take some time to build up your reputation but it should get easier to find students over time. Good luck!

I see tutors advertising on my local social media selling sites on Facebook.

We found ours through Tutorhunt but the PP who said that parents pass around details is correct, he's gone in to Tutor about 4 of our friends DC.

Local Facebook parenting pages. But read their terms carefully as they often have set days for advertising.
