Do you think I should make this service?

Hello Parents! I would greatly appreciate your insight into whether the following would be of use to you and your kids in school.

I'm thinking of making a 'personalised YouTube' to educate kids in the 11-18 school range. Essentially, (1) your kids can send in STEM questions they are struggling with (2) Cambridge University students with tutoring experience send back a detailed video going through the solution with a thorough breakdown.

My theory is that a lot of kids don't need a tutor in a particular subject, but would benefit greatly from on-demand help with specific issues that arise across their STEM subjects. In this way, it is my hope that the service would provide access to targeted, timely tutoring for multiple subjects and boost learning progress dramatically.

Please let me know what you think below or send my your thoughts via PM! If there is demand I would be looking to set something up within the next month for the new academic year.

Cheers

Ryan :)))

I don't understand the point of the tutor going to the trouble of making a You Tube video for the pupil to then watch, when, if it is about them getting stuck with a particular issue or question, it would be quicker and far more targeted for there to be direct contact between the pupil and tutor, surely?
With all the methods of video calling now, wouldn't finding a way of your tutors being available at set times, or some way of them logging on to pick up work (much like an Uber Driver does) then speaking directly to the pupil who is stuck be better ?

I mean, there area all the issues with Safeguarding and ethical things along the lines of how to ensure the tutors aren't just doing the homework of pupils that can afford the service, but that is a slightly different issue.

I'm not sure.

Kids only get a day or 2 for homework usually, so they would have to send you the question, you would then have to make the video and upload it, how could you do it quickly enough?

Also giving them the answers, even with the explanation seems a bit like cheating.

There are absolutely loads of online learning resources, as well as homework clubs in school, so I definitely wouldn't be (essentially) paying someone to do my kids homework.
