Early years tutoring

Good morning,

Hope everyone is well. This is my first post so please be gentle with me. I am just hoping to test the waters and get some honest opinions.

Long story short I am training to be a primary teacher next year, whilst I have been fortunate enough to get a salaried post I've had to take a significant pay cut and we weren't particularly well off anyway. This combined with the massive increase in cost of living has left me feeling incredibly anxious. I am hoping to close the gap by doing some extra work and tutoring crossed my mind, I have been in education many years and my specialist area is intervention, reading and mathematics.
Sorry I am rambling, to get to the point; do you think there will be any interest in early year's tutoring, for example supporting reluctant readers or addition phonics lessons?
I have the training and resources but didn't know if this is something anyone would be interested in.

Many thanks for getting this far :)

I think it might depend on where you are, whether people have the money and/or inclination.

I suppose the other thing to bear in mind is that there are a lot of resources out there for people to do it themselves in the early years - Five Minute Mum etc

Hi OP. I think you might find that training to teach is more than a full time job in itself. Especially in a salaried position, expectations are huge.

What about getting some paid work in the school holidays, maybe even at the holiday clubs etc at your own school? Or at a push getting extra pay to help staff the wraparound clubs at your school?

I agree with @Elsanore the training year is very tough! Can you work in the holidays?

Maybe in a sales role for commission or a role where you can expect big tips? That was the quickest money I made (you can get a few hundred quid a night in a fancy restaurant). Good luck

Thanks for your responses.
I'm taking the assessment only route and working as a cover supervisor for the year. I am aware of the expectations and I know it will be a tough year. I've spent the last couple of years in an extremely busy challenging role whilst studying full time at open university and having my youngest so hopefully the workload won't be too much of a shock to the system.
Unfortunately my new setting is small and there's no additional hours available, plus I have to collect my youngest from pre-school.
It could well be a pipe dream but I just thought it's something I enjoy, something I'm actually really good at and I haven't seen many people do it. I do have training and a lot of experience of working with children with SEN too so maybe this is a route to consider.
Your responses have definitely given me food for thought though so thank you for taking the time to reply, I really appreciate it. X

I guess there maybe but you’re only going to be doing 10-15 mins input at a time.
