How do I look for a tutor if considering multiple types of school

I'm trying to find a tutor for CE but also considering 11+
Also very late in the day dc is at end of year 4 and I'm starting to panic a bit.

Look at common areas for tutoring. Ask tutors what they can do for both exams. Make up the gaps yourself? Send DC to a prep that preps for one or the other?

My dc is at a prep for the independent school we wanted to get into but they don't really prep for 11+ only 13+ which we've only just found out about (not been through this before)

They didn't do as well as expected in her end of year exams but they don't have any extra help so now I'm hoping we can improve this.

Now I'm quite concerned though as it's getting closer to application time. School have told us we can apply to all the selective schools and that they will support this but they want us to stay at prep until 13 and not leave at 11+ but the senior school would rather they started at 11. I think it's too late to move schools again now. Thank you for your reply.

If you stay to 13 does this mean she has decent schools to apply for? The school presumably preps for these. Why don’t you want these schools? My DD went to a 13 plus prep and DDs went to a variety of schools. These schools don’t usually prep for 11 plus. Therefore if you want that route you will have to do it yourself. It’s easier to stay to 13 and get the support of your prep.

Thanks yes the school does support up to 13+ but most secondary schools prefer 11+ entry despite our prep wanting dc to stay.

When we contacted one particular school they made it very clear 11+ is the preferred entry route despite them having a whole class entry in year 9 (these are all girls selective schools). I'm not sure what is best. We're thinking see what happens at 11+ and use prep as a back up.

When a school goes to 13, they do usually have great contacts with destination schools. I know girls’ schools prefer 11. Do you need to choose a very selective school or good enough school? What area of the country are you in? My DD2 went to Godstowe where the vast majority stay to 13.
