Has anyone resumed this? Are you wearing a mask? Am struggling to find guidance on this

My daughter has resumed face to face piano. She goes to her teacher's home and her teacher wears a mask, my daughter does not. Her teacher wipes down the piano between pupils.
My son was getting tutored in math and his teacher resumed in June, though my son didn't return (he was getting it for GCSE so no need in the end).

I think guidance depends on where you live...

In Edinburgh where I am they've been taking generally a more constrained approach than in England... Since I was finally allowed to get a haircut at my hairdresser's home and the main constraint was I had to have washed my hair before arriving I guess it's allowed.

Having said that and considering that young ppl seem far more likely to be asymptomatic I am concerned that return to school without mass testing will result in more lockdown issues and I am only seeing student's face to face who I think really need it and staying online with others so as to keep the risks for everyone down. I suspect we may well experience a "2nd wave" in the autumn and be obliged to revert to all online :(

Thanks that’s useful to know

I haven’t returned face to face yet but plan to by September. I won’t be wearing a mask but will sit the opposite end of the table. It’s much less risky than working with the 30 students I will have been teaching face to face with no protection all day.

Thanks!

I am a tutor for the local authority. We have yet to be told if we are allowed back in students homes in September, most public spaces we use (libraries) are not open for private study, garden visits are not going to work for long so guess we may be back online.

Looking at the guidance (incase anyone sees this and has the same question) it seems to be ok to resume, 2m or 1m plus, hand washing etc. The guidance was hard to find but I found it under working in other people’s homes and that is my understanding of it

There are loads of advantages to keeping tutoring online.
Apart from the security of not having face to face meetings during lockdown and when there are still restrictions, online tuition can actually give you better resources and better learning.
As a tutor, when I do online tuition I am able to use powerpoint presentations and whiteboard skills that I learned in the classroom to directly interact with the students that I teach.
I have also used online learning tools to provide additional unsupervised work (homework) for pupils that is marked, assessed and returned online.
As well as being able to use online learning tools to prepare and mark work, the system that I have been using lets the students send messages and stay in contact with me outside the normal contact times in a safe and protected way.
Apart from all of the other advantages of online tuition, one of the main ones is that I can so my tutoring from my home, where I have all of my resources, while my students are also in the comfort of their own home, which can feel less pressured.
I know that there are disadvantages to online tuition and I know that some children learn better with face to face tuition, but there is a lot to be said for keeping tutoring online (especially if your student lilves many hundreds of miles away)!
