Report poor teaching to school..?

Hi all. Over the summer hols we were having a family discussion about how to help our 15 year old DD to cope with the academic rigours of Y11.
She told us that she is having problems with chemistry, that she just doesn't 'get it.' We therefore decided that it might increase her confidence if we got a private tutor to help which we have done and would have thought no more about it...
However, at a recent charity event a group of Y11 Mums were chatting and I am shocked to discover that we are not alone and that there is obviously a problem with the teaching of chemistry at our school. If we all just got tutors and said nothing then the exams results would be skewed and the school might remain unaware of the issue.
I don't think that this would be fair on the pupils, their parents or in the long term interest of the school.
However, I am also a bit conflicted about getting the teacher into trouble. She is by all accounts 'a lovely person' but a hopeless teacher!
Any suggestions welcome.

Maybe raise concerns with their HoY or the head of the science. If the teacher isn’t delivering suitable TLA it doesn’t matter that they are a lovely person- they need to be aware of this.

Personally I think that you should definitely talk with her head of year. If they’re not interested in teaching you should say something to them about it.

Unsure how you have come to the conclusion there’s a problem with the teacher. Is your child failing at exams and being unable to do class work or making no progress?
