Thinking of getting one of these.... any thoughts... are they worth it? Any really good ones to look out for?

Thanks!

A sit in one?
Nah don't buy one. They aren't great they can be dangerous and are huge and take up so much space and totally not needed.
Get a push along type one to give them something to hold onto when walking if you want to help them a bit that way but a sit in one is a total waste of money.

I have heard lots of stories about accidents and damaging legs. Our daughter has a push along trolley that is much better. Although I was tempted to get one over the past 3 weeks, before she mastered the trolley, as she was so frustrated but i sat it out and now all fine!

I was totally against the sit-in ones when I had dd1 and never tried one.

When dd2 was about 7 months or so (a bit hazy in the age sorry) she got very frustrated and started to make the most awful noise. She was so miserable - she just wanted to be able to keep up with dd1.

After trying lots of ideas I gave in and got a baby walker. It was just a cheap Graco one but it was great. I only put her in it for a short time every day but she was so happy.

Our living area is large and open plan though so no danger with steps etc and I guarded the cooker with a table and always supervised.

She walked just after 12 months so it didn't delay her development.

I think if used properly they are fine.

I came on because I thought you meant a push toy. I've also heard the advice about baby walkers not being advisable.

I'd say it depends on the age of your baby and how frustrated they are. If they are happily crawling/cruising, then why do you need one? Otherwise if they need help sitting up you can borrow one of those inflatable rings, or just put cushions in a laundry basket.

All of these stages go so quickly, it's a pain to have the big bits of equipment, so I'd say borrow pretty much everything, then you can give it back when finished/if it dosen't work out.

Been out and bought a push along walker.

Cheers for the advice and sharing your experiences.

He's not quite ready for it but the activity bit on the front he likes.

We have slate floors throughout the ground floor, so thought a walker would be a safer bet.
Can't carpet everywhere!
