Wooden ride-on for 1 year old

Dd2 is tiny and I would love a little ride-on trike type thing for her 1st birthday but most seem to say suitable from 18 months.

I don't want a wheelybug as we've carpets. The ELC one says from 12m but hasn't got good reviews.

Can anyone recommend anything please?

Just googled the trike I bought for DD's first birthday and found this mumsnet review

Hth.

I cant believe the ELC one hasnt got good reviews, my DS loved his, admitedly it came into its own when he was nearer 1 and a half and more confident.
Havnt got any other recommendations but hope you find one that suits.

We have this one. It is currently being used by DS3 (20 months), but his brothers enjoyed it before him.

IME they have to be around 18 months before they get their coordination sorted out to actually use it, so size alone truly does not matter ...

I'm really surprised the ELC has bad reviews as well. My DS had his last year (he would have been 18 mo at the time) and is still whizzing around on his now. Its had loads of use.

We have the same one as Pacific for DD2 who cracked it within days of her first birthday. She can inch herslf forward and back - its been a huge hit. We love it.

SexonFire, the Galt Tiny Trike looks great and says from 12m but doesn't seem to be available anywhere anymore.

I do keep coming back to the Pintoy one that's been recommended - it looks really small, just put off that it says for 18m+.

I'll go and see the ELC one for myself as well. Thanks for your help, any more recommendation appreciated.

the Galt one is fab, John Lewis used to stock it but don't think they do anymore. hope you find one!

why don't you want a wheelybug? we have carpets too and have one...

weepootle · 21/11/2009 15:40

We had a wheelybug for dd1 and didn't think it worked well with carpets, but then it may have been more to do with the fact we bought the large one which was really too big for dd1 at the time.

Do you think it works ok on your carpets tasssissss?

FWIW, we have Wheelybug(s) too, and they work on carpets and hard floors - just scarily fast on hard surfaces !

weepootle · 21/11/2009 16:21

That's the thing- dd1 was a little daredevil, it just wasn't fast enough on the carpets!
