Moon Sand.... any good? advice please
Wolfgirl · 08/10/2009 14:45
I think I heard it's not very good, but then I also heard it was OK. Anyone know anything about this one?
choufleur · 08/10/2009 19:18
Don't have. Hopefully never will unless some kind soul buys it for DS. why would i want sand in the house? It'd go everywhere. The colours would get all mixed up and end up sluggy brown.
EccentricaGallumbats · 08/10/2009 19:19
no. it's shite and doesn't work and will get into you carpets and the children will be deeply disapointed that it doesn't d what it says on the box.
Wolfgirl · 08/10/2009 19:20
thanks. I did do a search here on MN and found a previous thread which advised the same. That's it then.... no moon sand! LOL
SixtyFootDoll · 08/10/2009 19:22
We likemoon sand it is a bit messy but DS2 has the construction set one and he plays with it a lot
Cometrickortreatingwithme · 08/10/2009 19:23
It is CRAP still getting it out of the carpet from 6 months ago.
claricebeansmum · 08/10/2009 19:24
Anything with "sand" in the name of it is asking for trouble...beware "Sandart", "Sandcraft" etc
claricebeansmum · 08/10/2009 19:25
Sorry - just need some clarification...if you are buying for DC then noooo but if it is a gift...go for it
cornsilk · 08/10/2009 19:25
It's a nightmare. It gets everywhere and it won't wipe up as it repels water.
goingtohaveagoodnightssleep · 08/10/2009 19:27
Awful, I hate the stuff and I don't use the word hate lightly!
ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 08/10/2009 19:28
I seem to remember that on one of those threads about "what would you do differently with your children, given the benefit of hindsight" about half the posts were "I wouldn't let Moon Sand within half a mile of the house..."
hester · 08/10/2009 19:38
No no no no no [hester wakes up shaking from nightmare about letting Moon Sand back into the house]...
ArghhhhmazingBouncingSpider · 08/10/2009 19:40
Have a hoover ready if you do decide to buy some! I have a pack of it intended for use during playtime at work. It is hidden under my bed until im brave/stupid enough to let DS play with it.
GentleOtter · 08/10/2009 19:43
They only play with moonsand for about an hour max. Then a lifetime hoovering it up unless it is for outside.
Wolfgirl · 10/10/2009 23:44
Grief! why is this stuff still on shop shelves? be gone with it I say, if its that bad. Heck... I've had my share of playdough sticking to carpet, last thing I want now is pesky Moon sand
Not on list now. Scratched right off. LOL
KiwiKat · 11/10/2009 00:01
I consider myself warned - we've been having play doh/carpet dramas today!
ElfOnTheTopShelf · 11/10/2009 00:07
Nooooo. DD really wanted moonsand last year for her 3rd birthday so my sister got her some; she rarely played with it, you cant do with it what they do on the telly adverts etc. Horrible stuff.
DD has just turned four, sister got her some lego. Much better idea; much more played with. I just need to learn to stop stepping on the little pieces as they hurt my feet!
KiwiKat · 11/10/2009 00:28
Elf, are you sure it's not the thought of Louis Walsh covered in glittering play doh that's putting you off?
tinkisthrillerthrillernight · 08/11/2009 15:09
i wouldnt either very messy it looks great in the moulds but spreads everywhere
ja9 · 09/11/2009 17:55
nightmare! i HATE the stuff!
if you live in central scotland you can come get ours lol!
lizziemun · 09/11/2009 19:14
It's the only toy i have thrown away because not been broken.
Avoid like the plague .
Annabel1 · 20/11/2009 13:29
briefly, no, no, and again no! Mixes together, sticky, horrid texture. Get a plastic box or old baby bath and put real play sand in instead. It'll be more fun and hoover up better! But you know, sometimes they have to have something they really want even if it is rubbish. I still pine after Mr Frosty!!
