Present ideas for a 3 year olds birthday

Not sure if I’m in the right topic, but basically I’m lost for ideas of what to get son. He turns 3 on Monday. He has a scooter, most vtech and fisher price toys. Play dough, a lot of stickle bricks. A trampoline, a swing/slide/mud house outside. A lot of his favourite characters in figurines. A play kitchen. Ball pit. Electric train that he can sit on. Loads of books. Kinetic sand, magnatiles. Pretend ice cream and pizza shop. Drum sets. A lot of books. Things he can use scissors for and cut out to help development. Bubble machines. Costumes. Slime and more… just trying to list things to give people an idea of what he has so hopefully someone can suggest something we don’t. Not looking to get a lot of present's, just something I know he will enjoy and won’t just grow out of and that he will love playing with me and can play without me. Budget up to £500. If anyone can please make any suggestions I’d appreciate it. TYIA.

a Toniebox or Yoto player!

His first proper bike (I love Frog and Isla)
hot wheels
wooden trains

Does he have a Yoto? If he has a play kitchen, might he like a mixer for it? There’s one on Amazon - Casdon Kenwood Mixer | Toy Food Mixer For Children Aged 3+ | Perfect For Budding Bakers Who Enjoy Mixing Real Food!
Is he musical? Might he like a xylophone or glockenspiel?

Is this thread a wind up?

Nadcat · 26/02/2026 01:51

He adores music. That’s one of his main interests. He does have a xylophone, and a musical pack with tambourine etc. He’s got a little tikes projector for stories. Might be nice having a Toni box though so he could use his imagination and listen more to the story rather than watching the pictures. He mainly likes me moving the projector about so he can chase the images and hit it rather than listen! 😂 He does like Thomas the tank engine sets too. So thanks for the suggestion flakywasp, and I will check that out thanks sesquipedalian. ❤️

My DD turns 3 soon too - some of her favourite play things include musical instruments.
She is also a big fan of her Yoto player.
Other things which she enjoys:
Easel - paper on one side and magnetic chalk board on the other (apparently it is good developmentally for them to draw on an easel type surface)

Things I'm considering for her present coming up:
Balance bike/bicycle with training wheels
Dolls house - she loves making up stories with all her various toys/animals/dolls

So, every reply has recommended a Yoto Player. What are the chances of that?🙄

I just bought my 3 year old a tent, shaped like a rocket and he's obsessed. He also likes outside things, like his T ball set.

500 pounds seems a lot forward child's birthday. How about some craft stuff? A day out somewhere instead? If he will be getting stuff from.other people, at his age, and with all the things he has, does he really need anything else ? He won't realise re vost and uou won't end up buying an expensive short- lived play thing.

Me and my son’s father are separated so he has sent £250 for his birthday presents. So I’m matching it, that’s why I said the budget was 500. He won’t be receiving presents from anyone else also. Thanks for all the suggestions everyone.
