Garden toys for 2+ years

Hi, my little one turns 2 in a few weeks and looking for a 'big' garden toy for him, but would really like to get something that lasts longer than just one summer... Wonder if anyone with older kids would be able to give some advice.

This type of slide/climbing frame/tent seems like a good idea and I can imagine kids liking the tent/hideaway for a longer. But overall, would it be too young for a 3-year-old?

Likewise, this ship seems like something he could like now, but maybe too young by next summer?

Any thoughts on these or suggestions for other toys for the garden would be really appreciated, thanks ☺️

I think both would be fine for the toddler years but don't think the climbing frame would last beyond that realistically. The sandpit is ok but I find that the sand ends up everywhere and its a nightmare if you have cats in your neighbourhood so check it has a cover!

We have upgraded our play frame and the thing that gets played with most (by my 2 and almost 6 year old) with are the swings. We have purposefully chosen the quick release eye bolts so you can change the swing attachments quickly and easily; it can be used as a double swing, with a large nest swing for both kids or with rope ladders, trapeze swings etc.

Do you have a link to the one you have please?

In our garden the sandpit and the little playhouse were the things that got used the most and for the longest.

As they got older the trampoline got the most use.

Hi, not sure if that was for me? My husband actually designed and built ours as the last one took op loads of space but didn't actually have a big play space.

Heres a photo if it's useful:

Thanks for the reply. I was already hesitant about a sandpit cos of it getting everywhere, hadn't even thought about cats using it! 🙀 Good advice thanks!

Thanks! I can't take any credit, as I said, it was all DH's doing. My boys absolutely love it and I think we'll get years of play out it it!

We eventually want to add a couple more bits to it like an outdoor play kitchen and water area. @op, maybe you could add those to your list of possible ideas for your own LO?
