Lost Toys - is there a way to prevent?

I've lost count of the times I've had to search the house/car/garden for misplaced teddys at bed time, dose anybody have a solution?
I've seen geo tags but recently saw a teddy with a chip imbedded, wondered what others thoughts are?
I though it could also be useful if my little one wonders off whilst out and about

My solution: Any toy essential for bedtime stays in bedroom.

Exactly this. Anything really precious stays at home. Same applies to teenagers going to parties / festivals!

(actually same applies to adults too, don’t wear your diamond earrings to go swimming, I lost one years ago and I’m still gutted!)

This, plus toys don't leave the house.

Not in favour of tagging a child either. Keep an eye on them, use reins etc. But I might be old fashioned.

Don't they tidy up when they have finished playing? I didn't let my dc take precious toys out and about but in the house they didn't get lost because they had to put things away.

This . Doesn’t matter how much they want to take it out , it stays in the bedroom .

Totally makes sense in theory, but I find it much harder in practice to make sure teddy always stays in the bedroom! For us, it’s more about those panic moments when bedtime rolls around, and the toy is nowhere to be found—cue meltdown mode. I was just thinking how handy it would be to have a way to quickly locate it without the stress. And, in the unlikely (but scary) event that they wandered off while out and about, it could add a bit of reassurance to know the teddy could help find them too

I think it's a bad idea. You should be teaching them that if they leave things all over the place they won't be able to find them. Not that it doesn't matter where they put things because I've got an app for that.

You will be dooooooomed when they are thirteen and they can't find their shoes at 8.40.

Air tag for the really precious ones.

mummysontheginalready · 06/01/2025 17:11

would not tags or chips on toys work out expensive considering how many toys kids have? from experience i know that one day a certain thing will be fave then another day affections are transferred

The toys stay in the bedroom.
