DS birthday gifts

My DS is turning 6 in a few weeks and I have no idea what to get him. He is constantly on his iPad or the tv and doesn’t know anything he wants. I would like to get him something that will keep him off his devices for even a little while, does anyone know any good toys?

Lego

If he doesn’t know what he wants clearly he doesn’t want anything so you shouldn’t buy toys just for the sake of it, they should have meaning so he’ll like them and want to keep them, this will also reduce the amount of plastic in your house making it a more eco friendly environment, birthdays aren’t about the present but about the celebration, in my family we don’t give birthday presents and instead we just spend time together celebrating rather than thinking about toys. I hope this helps.

Hi Jill, in my family we enjoy giving presents, and my son would be very disappointed if he woke up on his birthday with no presents. While I do agree that the celebration is important it is also nice to receive a gift now and again. The suggestions have been extremely helpful, I have showed him some of the suggested Lego things and he has decided they look fab.

This kept my son entertained for hours last Christmas.

Some books? Gravitas, a coding toy, does he have any hobbies that you could get something for? Those dinosaur egg type things that they dig at to reveal something, a game such as uno, labyrinth, sinking sand. My boys like rocks and things so would like some crystals or lava stone etc. air hockey game, does he like drawing/crafts? Science kits? Playmobil/imaginext?

It's up to parents to provide stimulating and interesting toys for their children. They don't know all that's available so it's the parents job to search and find. No need to buy lots of tat but definitely need some stuff..birthday or no birthday.
Any construction / creative activities are usually good to keep a child occupied and a boardgame ye both can play together.
