Had anyone bought EWAN the sheep? Can you let me know if it's worth buying? I am 15 weeks pregnant (first time) and just looking at things which the baby will like

I had one. He was a life saver for us but it doesn’t work for every baby

We used white noise from an early age for ds so Ewan just helped reinforce that

EIRA3 · 16/09/2021 15:22

Worked for us and DD is 2 still use it for her to fall asleep.
Bought the owl version for DS but I'd prefer the sheep Smile

On the one hand, a white noise machine is a white noise machine and it either works on your child or it doesn't.

On the other we've had Ewan for 7 years and none of his legs work anymore but my kids still adore him and if he worked would 100% be using it still whilst waiting to drop off.

I can't say I noticed any great miracles in terms of sleep but it's a lovely comforting calming toy.

ivfbabymomma1 · 16/09/2021 15:23

My son is 2 and still obsessed with his to the point we have 2 that he goes to bed with each night and they've worked from day 1! Life saver!!

Blueuggboots · 16/09/2021 15:24

We had a sheep sleep which is similar. We used it until my son was about 3. He loved it!

Miserablewithweight · 16/09/2021 15:28

We have Ollie the owl (similar but by Gro) and my 3 yr old loves it still! Was a life saver when he was little and now he’ll switch it on at night if he wakes up and needs some white noise or a lullaby

RoseGoldGlasses · 16/09/2021 15:29

Yep my DS loved it as a baby!

mamamalt · 16/09/2021 15:32

I'm going to echo everyone else and have a 4 year old and nearly 2 year old who both love and still sleep with their sheepy!! 4 year old hasn't had batteries for years he just loves it!
Got one of them the purple and the other got the grey so they could tell them apart... now I'm due number 3 anyway and panicking about there not being another colour to get this baby! There will be sheep wars!

I would say it's definitely worth getting or asking as a gift as they're not very expensive but could end up a much loved bedtime buddy!

thesplashing · 16/09/2021 15:32

Didn't like ours, it rinsed through batteries.

Alarae · 16/09/2021 15:37

We had a Ewan but as it only runs for 20 mins at a time I was never fully asleep as I would keep turning it back on as everytime it went off my DD stirred.

In the end I just recorded the sheep on an old phone and looped the noise and used that instead. White noise is a saviour for my DD, she knows instinctively it's time for sleep when she hears it.

ronswansonstache · 16/09/2021 15:38

My DD is nearly one and we still use it every day!

OldTinHat · 16/09/2021 15:40

Obviously a completely different product, but DS1 has had a Shaun the Sheep since he was a toddler. It went everywhere with him and it still has a hospital band around it's wrist from when DS was admitted when he was 4yrs. He's 22yrs now, 6'3", long left home with his fabulous GF but Shaun has never left his side!

I was going to say that it's never too young to introduce a sheep to DC but that may be misconstrued!

ElspethFlashman · 16/09/2021 17:24

They do burn through batteries. But actually in hindsight the main problem is that in the early months you're putting it on 30 times a night so no wonder.

TheCraicDealer · 16/09/2021 17:30

We had a Ewan for DD- wasn't loud enough for her, and the sounds didn't last long enough. So I got a VTech Myla the Monkey which is rechargable, volume goes higher for our little raver, and also plays for either an hour or until you turn it off rather than Ewan's 20 minutes. Would recommend.

rosesandsalvia · 16/09/2021 17:35

You can play white noise through your phone so I would wait until baby is born and see if they like it. It was good for us, but does need the batteries changing frequently so in hindsight a plug in one would probably have been preferable.

annonymousse · 16/09/2021 17:38

My grandchildren aged nearly 3 and nearly 6 have had him since birth and he's still part of their going to bed routine.

Thismummyruns · 16/09/2021 17:42

Yes. Had 2. 1 for each DC. Amazing is Ewan!!

Dipsydoodlenoodle · 17/09/2021 11:07

I have bought one, I have one of the new ones that has a cry sensor on it so in theory turns on when baby cries. I think it might be called the Ewan Delux? I haven't used it yet, currently 30 weeks pregnant.
