Present ideas for technology and hands on learning loving DS 7 years

Hi just like the title says really,

It's DS birthday next month, he doesn't have a clue what he wants and neither do we. He is turning 7 but is quite clever for his age and able to do older activities. He isn't really 'into' much. He likes gaming and technology, the trampoline and hands on things such as junk modelling and making things etc.

We were thinking his main present will be a day out to go ape as he has been asking to do this for a while and he's quite daring, but we wanted some other bits for him to open on the actual day. We have a family iPad and PlayStation and are reluctant to buy one for his sole use as we don't want him on it all the time. He got Lego boost last year but hasn't really played with it, he likes knex and also has the magnet builder things which he enjoys. Just haven't really got a clue what else we could get him. He's got a bike and scooter that still are the right age/size from last year!

A marble run. There are some really inspiring ones around. Gravitrax is a really cool modern marble run but it's recommended for 8+. Take a look, he might be able to work it with supervision.
Here are some more good marble runs

Gears Gears Gears sets are really popular with that age group at the moment. www.argos.co.uk/product/7436172

The Enigmo STEM sets are excellent. There are loads to choose from. Enigmo also have another good series of sets called Inventor.

Otherwise, look into getting a subscription to Amazing! magazine.

@Ricekrispie22 thank you so much! The gravitrax looks really great and right up his street! I think he would probably be fine with that he's turning 7 and like I said has a very inquisitive mind so I'm sure he would figure it out in no time and I can always help him! He mastered a 14+ drone for his 6th birthday so he needs pushing 😂 I think he would really enjoy that so that is definitely on the list! The gears look good also but I think they might be a bit young but I might get those for my daughter at Xmas.

Didn't even think to google stem toys 🤦‍♀️ the bright starts website had some great things on there and the magazine subscription would also be perfect as he also loves to read! I had books on my list but a magazine I hadn't even thought of and I am sure he would enjoy that especially since it would come every month just for him!

What about a sphero? You can download the app and he can teach himself programming. Or there is an app enabled Lego batmobile which you can build and then drive. Or Lego boost you can build various app enabled robots.
