Kit for 'playing schools'

My nearly five year old often opts to play 'schools' both when she's alone and with friends. I'd like to put my own kit together for this type of play. She has a desk and two chairs. I have thought as far as a register and some exercise books. Any other fabulous ideas please? Thanks Flowers

Smile My son used to like doing this. What about a trip to the likes of Wilkinson's together to pick out things, they have loads of staionary, clip boards, little containers with fancy paper clips etc. WH Smith used to have a good range too, dearer but still, are they still open I wonder Confused

An easel with a blackboard on one side. Teacher stickers and stampers that say well done etc. Lots of different paper, sissors, glue . Big books ..twacher size. May get in library or chaity shops. Have fun. And don't think she is completely copying her teacher when she she is really cross and bossy.!!

vitalogy Wilkos is a good suggestion thank you. I'll have to go solo though as it's going to be our birthday present to her I think

Junebirthday I love the idea of a twacher. Almost like you've invented a new mumsnet word Grin Scissors! Of course. I asked her this morning what her favorite equipment in her classroom was and she said scissors.

Any other ideas please wise MNers?

Mini whiteboards and pens
Flash cards (maybe phonics based - if you can match to schools phonics system even better as it’s revision 😂)

Just came on to do a little bump to see if there's more collective wisdom out there

My dd used to spend her whole time playing schools at this age too. I second the easel/whiteboard - we got loads of use out of ours. My dd used to like making registers so I bought a squared A4 notebook and ruled lines down inside edge of page for her to write names and then used the squares to tick them off! A pack of cheap stickers is also a good idea - teachers love to give out stickers!

Some phonics/ map/ number posters?
I have a pointer stick- literally a laminated pointy finger on piece of garden bamboo. Use it to point to words in books/ things on whiteboard. Kids love having a go.
‘Tidy tub’ for desk with bits in it- ie, bull dog clips, book mark, blu tac, pens.
Whistle? Wink
Mug
Diary? Doesn’t have to be third years, lovey for writing important things in.
Lanyard and ID card?
Little baskets with things in- ie, little animals for counting, bricks, dice, counters etc.
Stickers/ stamps.

As well as specific things can you encourage your daughter to imagine a classroom, so if she already has a shelf of books could that be the school library?

Vitalogy · 06/03/2018 19:35

Lanyard and ID card? oow yes, that's a good un.

ecofreckle · 06/03/2018 22:10

When my LO was playing schools though we collected: exercise books (amazon), register, laminated coloured card to make whiteboards, stickers, personalised stickers that said "Miss said Well Done" (amazon/ebay), board pointer, visual timetable, printed worksheets from phonics play or google search maths worksheets etc etc, she had a little stool to sit on, clipboard, made planning sheets for each subject that she filled in herself (might have just said 'Phonics ee sound;' but to her it was the same as what the teacher carried round, bell to sit on the table to stop the class, probably loads more but cant think right now. lou xx

Sorry.......also bought highlighters, stamps for marking work (amazon), various coloured paper, pritt sticks, tissue paper, folders, posters from £shop are good aswell (if you dont mind them on the walls) as you can get maps, timestables, colour wheels, phonics, animals etc OMG I must have spent a fortune!!! She had hours of fun with it all tho.
