Hi all :)

My daughter is nearly 17 weeks old. She has had a play mat since being about 2 weeks old & has loved being on it quite a lot. She also has a bouncer so she is in different positions & playing different activities throughout the day (as well as cuddles / activities etc). Over the past week or so, she really just wants to be stood, as in, us holding her but her feet being on the floor.

She is very strong with her head & has been since day one. She's great during tummy time. She is also very strong when sat up with assistance. She can't sit up by herself.

I've started looking into walkers, but it does say from 6 months old.... Is this just a guideline? If I buy her one now at nearly 4 months old, is it going to cuase any damage?

Any informations / advice will be appreciated :) x

What type of walker? The sit in ones generally aren't recommended as they can be quite dangerous and they can affect kids walking.

Sorry, yes I meant the sit in walker? In what way are they dangerous?

Or maybe also considering a jumperoo? x

Walkers are said to affect the way babies put their feet on the floor. They're only dangerous if you leave your child unattended so I've never understood that warning. Put your kid in a walker by some stairs and sure, they're probably going to injure themselves.

We used a walker and Jumperoo from about 4 months but my daughter was sitting with support about then.

My mum will give me a lecture about how terrible they are every time she sees one.

We used a jumperoo from 20 weeks, ds was very sturdy at that stage, the only reason we didn't have a walker is the tiles throughout our house are quite sloppy, ds is very strong and we were afraid of the combinationGrin
