device with which to play music for a child....do they still make walkmans?

Only joking.
I am aware that there is some new technology around, although in some ways an old fashioned walkman would be ideal! I need a personal portable music player thing (MP3 I guess?) that can have headphones that a 3 year old would be able to operate easily...i mean he can't read to tell what tracks he'd be choosing....there is some merit to sticking a tape in and pressing play.
Any recommendations?

An iPod shuffle maybe? I'd be careful with headphones on a little one though - they can damage hearing even at fairly low volumes.

I bought a Barbie mp3 for my DD about £15 from Argos, quite easy to use and it's survived for 4 years!

Oh, and it doesn't get very loyd either.

Ok thanks, good idea to see if the volume can be controlled!

I bought some special childrens' headphones with a built-in limiter. DD is quite happy using an old phone with the music on - it means she can flick through the pictures so she knows what song is playing.

If you have a bluetooth phone you can transfer the tracks between them very easily.
