Non-specific Lego

4yo recently taken a shine to our 20 year old lego set, which doesn't consist of much having been shared between 5 cousins and now him.

are there any good "all round" sets?

ours came in a bucket with lots of normal bricks, a few animal ones, wheels, doors etc.

so you could build anything from houses to vehicles to creatures with it.

all the non-specific sets appear to be duplo.

this one seems to be interesting, you can make a lot of animals with it, and vehicles.

You can also buy boxes of just windows or wheels.

thanks kelda... those are the sort of thing i had in mind, was hoping for something a bit cheaper but i supoose if it lasts long as the original set i'm getting a bargain.

i tried argos hoping they'd have a simple starter bucket or something but it was mostly superhero and car themed.

There is plenty on Amazon as well. You might find cheaper on Ebay.
Lego isn't cheap but it is far better value then most other toys.

Thanks for your help Kelda, i'm going to order him the set you suggested- it looks like a good place to start, tgen if i need to i can pick up extra bits on ebay etc and he can add to them with his pocket money too.

incidentally we found a mini set of "fake lego" for £2 today which has entertained him all afternoon so i know it will be worth spending money on in the long run.
