My DD is turning 2 next month and I am getting requests for what I want family to buy her. Her aunty is getting her an aquadoodle but I am stuck for other suggestions. Also not sure what to get her myself. She goes to the CM in the week, loves horses, already has a kitchen at home and we have limited space. Any ideas welcome! x

Farm, more kitchen things, dressing up clothes, vehicles, outdoor toys, season ticket to local farm, hobby horse?

JiltedJohnsJulie · 21/04/2012 09:13

Get this from you. Our DD also loved these, this and this book when she was 2.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 21/04/2012 09:15

belinda's idea of a season ticket is a good one, a friend bought her DD a season ticket to the local zoo for her 2nd birthday and they had lots of lovely days out.

belindarose · 21/04/2012 09:15

JJJ, they're all things my 2 year old adores. The 'You Choose' book is fantastic.

Marne · 21/04/2012 09:15

wheely bug, scuttle bug, lego/duplo, a doll and pushchair? a swing for the garden?

2tired2bewitty · 21/04/2012 09:18

dd was two in Feb and is currently playing with the playdough she got for her birthday. She is also getting a sandpit, I'm just waiting for the weather to improve a bit!

Had to read that book everynight for 18 months. We still read it sometimes at 4.5. It is a fab book isn't it Smile.

TheScottishPlayer · 25/04/2012 22:09

Easel, duplo, dressing up stuff, Orchard Toy games, mini micro scooter

Thanks everyone! We have toyed with the scooter idea but I wasn't sure if she was too young... I would love to get her an easel but we ust don't have the room. We've got a wheely bug already and have also looked at scuttlebugs - thanks everyonr for your suggestions. I like the look of the you choose book too. Currently we are reading 'Monkey and Me' from the library. Love it.

We got DS the mini micro for his 2nd birthday. It took him a wee while to get the hang of it, but almost two years later it's still going strong and he loves it. It's probably the best value for money we've ever spent on him.

TheScottishPlayer · 02/05/2012 20:43

I have seen tabletop easels before if that would work with your space issues. Try gltc, amazon etc.

soundevenfruity · 02/05/2012 20:59

Definitely a scooter. And if she is keen on horses a helmet by Danish company Crazy stuff. They are brilliant for boys with bare toothed sharks and tigers but they also have very pretty horse and cat for girls. DC uses his as a dressing up at the moment. The helmets are fully adjustable so should last utility she learns to ride a bike.

soundevenfruity · 02/05/2012 21:00

last UNTIL Blush

OctopusSting · 02/05/2012 21:02

Wow toys are all lovely (no battery power) and have bits for all price ranges so good for asking family/friends who want ideas. My DD (now 3.7) has always loved the campervan, horses & horsebox and the diving boat

EverybodysSleepyEyed · 02/05/2012 21:08

DD (21m) loves her brothers mini micro so I'm sure your DD will be fine. She caused a bit of a stir amongst her little friends when she turned up on it at her playgroup (the advantage of being a second born!).

I was thinking of getting DD a sturdy trike (like the radio flyer)

WOW toys are great but can be really noisy!!

feetheart · 02/05/2012 21:09

Would second a MiniMicro scooter.
We got DS one for his 2nd birthday and he used it daily until we replaced it with a Maxi-Micro for his 5th birthday.
They do seem expensive but are definitely the best value presents we have ever bought...and their resale value is good!

petitdonkey · 02/05/2012 21:13

I agree with thescottish - dd started using her micro scooter soon after she turned two (inherited from her sister) and it is a simply brilliant toy. Dd1 used it until she was nearly five and we only bought her the next size so we could give the smaller one to dd2- she could still use it now. Avoid pink if you have/might have a boy in the future. (dont flame me, i know boys can have pink but my son wouldn't have been seen dead on it!!)
She also had a scuttle bug but it didn't have the same longevity.

EverybodysSleepyEyed · 02/05/2012 21:14

you can get the minicmicro in yellow or green too

AnotherOfstedQuestionSorry · 02/05/2012 21:17

on the day of her birthday, PLEASE do something I have heard of but only since my children have grown older.

get a big box wrap it inside and out in wrapping paper then sellotape some hellium balloons inside, (on a ribbon) then close the box with a bow for her to unwrap.

The kids would have loved this when they were little.. not expensive but whole lot of fun Smile

EverybodysSleepyEyed · 02/05/2012 21:20

Another - that's a great idea - my DD adores helium balloons and that would be heaven for her!! Thanks

cheeseandmushroomtoastie · 02/05/2012 22:40

Argos do a scooter called 'my first scooter' which can have 4, 3 or 2 wheels. I bought it for ds 23 months as a treat and he loves it. Would recommend that. Or how about something for outside such as slide for toddlers etc?

blowninonabreeze · 02/05/2012 22:45

Will add my weight to the scooter suggestion. Dd2 got a mini micro for her second birthday.
But if you go with a scooter, don't consider anything other than the mini micro. It's head and shoulders better than any other scooter out there and worth every penny.

Balance bike?
