just that really, thinking it might be handy for an active 2 year old through the airport, she is tall, so thought a footrest might be best to keep her feet from dragging. How well do these work in the real world!!

many thanks

Personally I loathe them. I have bought two for my youngest. They are heavy and cumbersome and don't hold much stuff as a suitcase particularly.

They are only helpful for your child/ren to "ride" if you have a free hand to do the pulling, so to speak. And then only if you are going in a straight line! Not my favourite invention.

ReshapeWhileDamp · 12/05/2012 15:53

I agree - they look like a good idea but they require at least one free hand to pull, which isn't great if you have a 4 yo who might otherwise be moving along under their own steam. Grin And they have a tendency to shed their loads if you move at a normal walking speed. Ours (a gift) is DS1's dinosaur storage box at home and is just used to take toys by car to GPs - a sort of travelling toy box. I wouldn't get one if you're taken by the idea of DC riding on them in crowded airports!

disappointed!!!!!! so i bought two trunkis for my 2 and 4yr olds last yr at great expense but hey a great product so who cares....until this weekend heading out to a fab camping place in our camper as my husband pickup the trunkis from the top of stairs the handle of our pink one broke on one side and so feel down the stairs onto my excited 3yr old who hurt her shine. i was so upset i immediately called the help line which after putting me through to customer support cut me off 14 times before i actually spoke to someone and that was only because i choose the publicity automate choice. then when i explained what had happened and i had brought it from sainsburys i was told it was their responsibility....so to contact them. and i would need a receipt even though it says trunki on the product! i was then told it was ok because recently the product has changed....when i then suggested they could swap my faulty product they said no and to go to sainsburys.....NOT GOOD CUSTOMER RELATIONS....the amount of people at the airports who ask me about this product and i have always recommended will now be told to stay well clear and as we all know mums opinions spread like wildfire!!!!

Hello there

Apologies our phone line wasn't working for you - we had some problems last week but please be assured our Operations Officer is solving the issue at the moment :o)

I understand you feel stuck in the middle of two companies, so we've spoken to Sainsbury's and they told us they were happy as the retailer of your case to refund your item, so we've managed to resolve the issue between us.

Please note that although all our cases say 'Trunki' on the side, customers do benefit from having their proof of purchase to exchange or return their item to their specific retailer.

Kind regards
Trunki Towers Team :o)

Well I think they're bloody fab. Bought one for DD3 a couple of years ago as we travelled twice a month between here and Spain and it saved my sanity. Packed properly I could easily fit a week's clothes in there for her.

Initially i just pulled her along on it, but once she was a bit bigger she either pulled it herself or sped along on it. It never fell open because I used the plastic key attached to lock it - surely that is the sensible thing to do? Anyway, best £20 I ever spent in the airport for sure. And, no, I don't work for them.

ANNA your contract is with Sainsbury's because you bought the Trunki from them....

Graciescotland · 22/05/2012 16:34

I always thought the Consumer Protection Act meant you could complain to the retailer or the manufacturer?

Graciescotland · 22/05/2012 16:35

Am slightly gutted though I'd been planning to get DS one of these for the airport. Ah well back to the drawing board.

AndiMac · 22/05/2012 16:37

I think they are great too. My 5 year old is getting a bit too big to ride it, but is still happy to pull it and sit on it and loves packing it herself. The fact that it's small enough to take as carry-on luggage on the plane is great too.

I don't think you'd want stirrups, as the kids are always putting their feet down to jump on and off and it wouldn't be so good in case it tipped over as well. Plus, if she's big enough to touch the ground, she's big enough to push it along herself!

TheScottishPlayer · 24/05/2012 22:31

I quite like them - good for overnight stays at the GPs etc. But I haven't risked taking it as hand luggage on our last few flights as they were with Ryanair and last time I checked they were a smidgen over Ryanair 's hand baggage restriction and I didn't want to risk paying an extortionate amount to put it in the hold. That said, I have seen people take them on a Ryanair flight so I guess it depends how strict the staff are. I'd take it on a flight with another airline though.

ILiveInAPineapple · 10/08/2012 10:12

My 4yr old loves his, have had it for 2.5 yrs and we use it on easyjet flights regularly to visit my GP. He can fit a weekend set of clothes plus a couple of toys in it, and it has never fallen open, even though we have never locked it!

bumponboardagain · 10/08/2012 10:39

Love them! We have had them for a couple of years. Our dc are now 6and 4. Never had a problem. We use them for their hand luggage item on a plane and they fill them with toys for the holiday. They ride on them and are a handy seat when waiting around at train stations etc.
