Best 'baby' doll for 3yo - with clothes?

DD2 is turning 3 next week. We need to buy her a present but have no idea what - as a second DD she basically just shares almost everything already owned by DD1 and, most of the time, they are both happy with that.

I am thinking that she would like a baby doll. DD1 has never really been in to playing with dolls much whereas DD2 really likes them at the CM's.

Can anybody tell me what they think is perhaps the best 'baby-type' doll to get? I would like one that you could perhaps buy different outfits for but do not want anything along the lines of Sindy/Barbie as DD2 is still so little and likes carrying a baby.

Ideally, if the doll was also of a size to be compatible with doll buggies/high chair/ prams then we would have a ready-made idea for presents for the next couple of years perhaps or for other people to buy for this birthday too.

Any ideas?

depends how much you want to spend? Do you want a soft bodied doll? My neice had a baby born doll when she was younger and she loved it. She also had one that you could buy different clothes for but that was a really big one (as tall as her at about 3years) but I can't remember what that was. Argos do a big range of dolls or The Entertainer toy shop.

Baby Annabel have always been popular with my dds and doll1 is still going strong after 9 years! My tip - buy Tiny Baby size clothes from charity shops/in the sale though as Baby Annabel clothes are really expensive. Also, a pack of premature baby value nappies are always popular. Smile HTH

I think I might just have to buy a doll and see how it goes. I think, perhaps, the problem is that I was never into dolls (and didn't own anything other than Action men until I was 10) so each time I look at dolls none of them seems particularly interesting!

I am not so concerned about the cost - I like to buy birthday presents that last so do not mind a bit of an investment.

Good idea about buying tiny baby clothes and nappies - although we have plenty of them in storage as both DDs were preemies! I don't like to get rid of everything (we did donate quite a lot once they were both a bit older) and there are some bits that they already use to dress their teddies.

Will try The Entertainer tomorrow - have looked through the Argos book and online but nothing inspires me so I will need to check out the dolls for real.

Thank you for your suggestions.
