What scooter to buy after a mini-micro?

We were thinking of getting DD a new scooter for Christmas and passing on mini-micro to her little brother. It's become slightly academic as she managed to sheer off the brake this afternoon - we've had it 2 yrs she spends a lot of time going down hills so just wear and tear - however back to original question..

We want something primarily as a form of transport; she's 4 years old and scoots a mile or so into town/ park/ beach most days - in which case is a sturdy maxi micro called for - and is she big enough?

I'm quite taken with the idea of getting her a two wheeler. We don't really have anywhere to store a bike, when we have to, I guess we'll have to sacrifice part of tiny garden, but I hear learning to ride a 2 wheel scooter teaches you about balance in the same way a hobby horse or balance bike does. (we had to give one of those away for lack of storage space..)

She should be big enough, the handle on the maxi goes as low as on the mini. For your old mini you might be able to replace the brake look on the micro-scooter.co.uk website ( can't link, on phone) in the spares section.

Definitely the maxi micro. Dd had a two wheeler briefly after her mini micro but LOATHED it. So it wasn't a pleasure any more.

I Think the micro three wheelers are actually pretty good for balance because they lean to steer. Dd has had no issues with learning to ride a bike.

Also you can definitely get spares for the mini micro so would second looking st their website. You can pimp the whole thing - new brake, different colour base/handles etc. fab.

excellent - just checked spares; brakes are a fiver, so we'll definitely get one of them for DS to use.

DS had a mini micro and got a micro sprite for his 5th birthday - I wasn't sure about the 2 wheels but he loves it and took to it straight away. He loves having his grown up scooter!

My DD has had no trouble transferring from a mini-micro to a bike balance wise, she is getting a maxi-micro for Christmas (she will be 6 early next year). DS moved from a mini to a maxi micro 2 years ago at the same age, he goes everywhere on it.

While I am here, I must add that the customer service we have had from micro-scooter.co.uk has been absolutely excellent. DS has hammered his maxi and in the last couple of months it has needed several spares, not only have we found them easily on their website, the videos for repair are great.

Just this week when we needed to replace his wheel bearings and the old ones were stuck in the wheels, I phoned them up, they said send the wheels and parts back to us we will sort it for you and they were back with us completely refurbished within 3 days just for the cost of the parts.

okay I think the fabulous provision of spares, repairs and ability to keep scooters going into perpetuity has sold me on the idea of a maxi-micro. Maybe we'll keep 2 wheeler for when she's a bit bigger...
