Mixed race dolls - where to buy?

My 14 month old daughter loves anything dolly or cuddly. I'm expecting a baby in February next year, so this bodes well for me (I hope!). She's mixed race, so I want to get her a really nice mixed race doll for Christmas. Not only are they limited, but the few that I've seen are frankly, rather ugly. Really hard plastic bodies and over the top "ethnic" features. I also hate the fact that the vast majority of dolls seem to come with bottles and dummies. That's a whole separate issue, though!

Ideally I want a soft bodied baby doll, but failing that a rag-doll type should be fine. Does anyone have any idea where I might be able to find something like this? I'm so sick of the white skinned, blonde haired, blue eyed dolls that have dominated the market since I was a child. I'm mixed race, too, and always wanted a doll like me. Surely twenty years later there must be some suitable alternatives available?!

Thanks in advance.

There seem to be quite a few rag-doll types available. I put "mixed race rag doll" into google and came up with quite a few. I haven't seen any soft-bodied baby dolls though. Hope you find what you are looking for!

Baby Stella is a lovely doll. She is soft. She has a dummy though but you could chuck it! It's magnetic the dummy.

Then there is Lilydoll. She is an older looking doll. They ate both made by the same company. Manhattan something or other. They are both a good colour IMO. There are a few different Lilydoll dolls. Baby Stella comes in two colours.

We also have a beedibles doll I think they are called. You can get them on amazon. Again there are lots of different ones. We have a little boy and he is gorgeous.

Lilydolls and Groovy girls are great, my nieces have them Envy

for something a bit more homespun how about one or two of the Lanka Kade fair trade rag dolls? I have bought these for creche and they are cotton stockinette so a bit less synthetic than Manhattan Toy, but really lovely.

Rag dolls are charmingly easy to make as well, you can get kits. Clothkitty

Thanks, you two! This thread has already been more fruitful than my previous searches. I've literally waded through hundreds of products recently and never seen Baby Stella. Who is adorable! And perfect! A rag doll baby...it didn't occur to me that a hybrid of the two might exist! Savoy, when you say the dummy is magnetic, does that mean there isn't a hole in her face? Because that would be a bit creepy..

I'm checking out Lanka Kade now, too. Thanks! I don't think I have the time to make one at the moment. Pregnancy and toddlers aren't kind to this mama.

No there is no hole. The dummy is a flat disc and it sticks to her face. You could probably sell the dummy on e-bay! We have the Baby Stella cot and the backpack carrier too.

Oh, I forgot the changing bag! This was my dd's favourite part. We got her baby Stella when I had dd2. The changing bag has a couple of spare nappies and some cloth wipes in a little purse. The loved the wipes. Bag
