Best apps for under ones

DS loves the iPad. Anything that glows really. We have a couple of "baby" apps, but nothing that is great.

So far we've tried Baby Rattle Toy, Baby Silencer, Baby Touch and Hear and Baby (TM).

We also have Monster Melody Mash, Toca Tea Party, and Little Bella's I Close My Eyes, which are all great, but not for DS just yet.

Any good recommendations for simple apps for under 1s?

Apps for under ones?? Noooooooooooooh! Good grief. I must be getting old.

Hej addams. I agree, in part. But when we're using it and he's constantly reaching for it, sometimes I just want to let him have a go, for a couple of minutes at a time. And I'd prefer he wasn't sending emails or facebooking while he bashes away!

Are you serious - apps for a baby Shock?!

notevenamousie · 22/11/2011 11:36

What???!!!
Can you not just put it away? Are you always going to let him have everything he reaches for? Have you looked into the effects of screens (of any types) on early development?

SnowChains · 22/11/2011 11:37

i have heard it all now!

Can't you entertain him yourself? He will have eye problems if he is starting to look at screens that young!

We like peekaboo baby touch by ladybird as well. Rumble in the jungle is a nice interactive story. Also animatch for animal noises

Using the iPad is more interactive than just watching tv, and I don't let my 17 month old use it unsupervised. It's more like an electronic book.

"Using the iPad is more interactive than just watching tv"

Does a baby under the age of one really need to do either Hmm?

BuongiornoPrincipessa · 22/11/2011 13:21

Er no of course they don't need it but a few minutes playing supervised with an iPad is not exactly going to do any harm is it? Same as an electronic toy or book.

The issues associated with screen time for under twos relate to using television as an electronic babysitter instead of letting them play or talking to them. This is not what would happen on an ipad as you are involving the child in a game or story.

There's really no need for the Hmm

You want your iPad to be used as a rattle?
