What type of 'Micro' scooter for 4/5 yr olds?

I'm looking for a scooter that will be brilliant for a 4 - 5 year old. I have looked at all of the Micro scooters e.g. Maxi Micro, Micro Sprite, Micro Rocket etc and don't know which to go for. I would quite like it to last for years. Also, I want one that can take the rough with the smooth i.e. it will cope on not such smooth pavements.
Thanks

My dcs have the maxi micro scooters. My dd is 9 and ds is 6. The design is fantastic. It copes with very rough surfaces, grit on roads, very low kerbs etc. It is also robust and survives quite rough treatment.
My ds is small for his age and copes with the maxi on its lowest height setting.
The Mini micros say suitable from 3 years on the John Lewis website and the Maxis say suitable from 6 years so unfortunately I suspect you are stuck right in the middle. If you get the mini it should last a couple of years or maybe 3 if your your child is not tall. If they are very tall you might get away with the Maxi straight away.
Sorry not more helpful but hopefully this will at least bump this.

Thank you Carrots - very helpful on the maxi micro. Good to know that the Maxi will be ok for a 9 year old too...what age/size do you think they go up to? (I think I'm kinda hoping that I might be able to get ds one that I can also ride!!)

My 9 year old fits age 13 or 14 clothes - she is tall and it is fine for her. Her best friend is even taller and she has no trouble with it either. Infact, I have been known to scooter home from school on one myself if one of the dcs has taken it up in the morning. Blush I am 5ft 6! So...yes, it should last! Grin

Maxi Micro. Tough, well-made, light, stable yet very nimble, can handle rough surfaces better than a 2-wheeler. As an added bonus, because it steers by tilting the footboard left and right with the bars rather than twisting them, it is almost a skateboard with handlebars rather than a conventional scooter, so when your kids eventually graduate to a skateboard, they'll already have an intrinsic 'feel' for it.

My DS is 4, and doesn't want to ride a 3 wheeled scooter any more as "it's for babies". You may find your DCs grow out of wanting 3 wheels, and want 2 wheels only. Both my DSs have JD Bug scooters instead - the shaft goes up and down and DS2 is plenty tall enough to ride it at its lowest level. I can ride it home from school after dropping off DS1 (7) at its highest level - no back ache like with the lower ones.
