I've been researching toy kitchens online for FAR too long and I think I've narrowed it down to this one

Does anyone have one, and what do you think? Is the sink removable?

I'm also thinking about this one

But I'm worried that it won't be 'flashy' enough for DD, 2.3...We've got limited space (it's going in the main room, for better or for worse...)

We have an earlier version of this kitchen. Its a lovely kitchen with quite a lot of features packed into a small space. Several children can play at one time becuase of the four sides. The sink bowl is removable. I think the bowl lifts out and reveals a hole down into the oven or washing machine.

We have had ours a couple of years. The string holding a couple of the doors up snapped quickly, but other than that very robust.

It is a nice looking kitchen as well, so ideal if you are going to have it in the corner of the lounge for the next few years!

Sorry should say we have the letterbox kitchen if not obvious from post!

Thanks, busywheels. For some reason, I'm really fixated on the removable sink, so that's good to know...It looks just huge in the picture in the catalogue- they all do, really. Did your kids use theirs? Our DD hasn't shown that much interest in cooking, but I'm hoping this will inspire her!

i love this one if you have an ikea near you

oh btw the only thing i would add is make a note of the height.

a LOT of kitchens we've seen are really small, and as I have tall children they just won't last very long.

i am thinking of making my own actually.. but every time i go into ikea i nearly buy that one lol

p.s... why does the sink need to come out????

theory · 18/02/2011 07:32

thisysterday- that's a good point about height- I've got a tall one, too...hmmm.

The ikea one is cute but my DD seems to have somewhat flash taste- give her a choice between the plain wooden toy and the bright red (or pink-ugh) one with stars and stripes and glitter, and she'll throw the plain one to one side in a flash.

I'm into the sink coming out because I want to put some water in there so she can mess around - and then get the water out!
