Toy ideas for a 2-year-old who loves jigsaws? (apart from more jigsaws!)

My son 2 yrs 3 months is addicted to jigsaws. Apart from more jigsaws, I'd love some ideas for other toys that have proven big appeal to jigsaw fans. I don't mind buying 3+ toys as all his jigsaws are 3+. Many thanks

What about construction toys like Lego or Kid K'nex? They come with patterns to build things, so it would be like building a 3-D jigsaw and there is the added benefit of being able to play with what you've made afterwards.

Those magnet shapes that interlock together to make pictures and patterns? Often come in a carrying case with magnetic board lining.

I second the magnetic shapes things - DS1 (also a jigsaw addict) has got a couple of those that he loves. What about simple board games? Obviously not the same skills as a jigsaw, but often appeal to the same kind of child. Check out Orchard Toys - they do brilliant games. DS1 absolutely loves anything with dice (snakes and ladders, Ludo etc), but you can also get simpler games that don't require any letter/number skills (and, indeed, teach those skills) e.g. Dotty Dinosaurs, Shopping List etc. Oh, and how about dominoes? We LOVE dominoes in this house.

marble run! my ds1 was a big jigsaw fan and LOVES the ELC marble run

Oh god yes, marble run. I forgot that. Keeps DS (and, more importantly, DH Grin) entertained for hours.

Oh, and by the way, can I suggest charity shops? I have recently discovered that they are absolutely great for things like jigsaws, board games, dominoes etc. Got DS1 more stuff yesterday than I got him for Christmas, and it cost me about three quid.

Another recommendation for dominoes from someone who also has a jigsaw loving DS.
