is peppa pig aimed at girls?

My ds is 2.3 yrs old and seems to of gotten into peppa pig, i dont mind him liking girly programmes but im writing his xmas list and didnt know whether buying him peppa pig toys would be going to far?

my DS still watches it at nearly 5. He had a few toys like the Grandpa train one - would have bought him the school for when he started nursery but never quite got around to it.

For what its worth ds had peppa pig toys at that age. Along with a tea set. I don't believe there is such a thing as boy and girl toys at that age. That comes later when other people sadly influence their choices.

My DS adores Peppa Pig. George is his hero.
It is a cartoon show about young animals - how could it be "girly?"

Thanks for the answers, i havent got a problem if it is girly, my ds watches strawberry shortcake and owns his own buggy and baby doll fgs.
I only ask as i havent seen it as he tends to watch it at his cousins house so only heard my sisters view on it.
I wouldnt go out and buy him a strawberry shortcake dolly so making sure im not about to do the same mistake.

I always thought it was but when ds was about two we went to a friends house and he loved playig with her ds's Peppa pig toys so I bought him thehouse and playground. He played with it a lot.

DS1 got into peppa pig at that age - he still watches it now (aged 4) with his 18 month old brother. Dont think its particularly girlie - the toys seem fairly unisex.

Tyson, why not a Strawberry Shortcake doll?
DS loves dolls - especially upsy daisy and his sister's baby dolls.

DS (2.5) plays with his peppa pig house every single day, he's been given a lot by friends whose DC have outgrown them. He doesn't seem to identify with george rather than peppa at all but is very proud of his george pyjamas. He's got a Grandpa pig train but mostly peppa and george drive his other cars etc, as well as being put to bed, have baths etc while daddy and mummy pig mostly go up and down stairs or cook dinner. I think Peppa Pig is a great fairly non-gender specific programme.

My ds (4) has loved Peppa Pig for a couple of years, and has the rocket, caravan, school and train - he plays with them all the time! Along with all his Spiderman/Cars stuff. Don't worry about it.

Oh don't be ridiculous, YunoYerBubson, how could it make him gay? Is it just because peppa is pink? Is that it? However, I do think Tyson is right to worry. It could well give him delusions that he too is a pig, he could start rolling in mud or eating a lot..many 3 year old boys do that and I blame Peppa pig.

Think Peppa pig is a generic program- other than the main character being a girl there is nothing particularly girlie about it.

Why wouldn't you buy him a strawberry shortcake doll? Confused What on earth is different about that from the doll he already owns??

(We love Peppa Pig too - DS is nearly 2.)

My two boys loved Peppa Pig - they loved the sibling interaction and winding up, and they used to giggle at incompetent Daddy Pig!

They are older now so have outgrown it but I don't see it as being for girls OR boys. It's ideal for BOTH. Unlike Fifi, which was clearly for girls according to my two, even though they used to watch it when they thought I wasn't looking. Grin

DS (2) loves Peppa Pig. Find most of the clothing aimed at girls though. DS's favorite toys are a second hand pink pram and a second hand ELC girly fairytale shoehouse. He also loves his vast collection of cars too. They don't care at this age.

My MIL bought us some Peppa pig toys and dvds lately, and my DS totally fell in love with it. Beforehand I thought it was a girly thing, but of course I have never seen it before. IMO It is lovely, and it is all right if DS gets into pink toys. Although I, as a woman, do not particularly like pink.
